Thanks for good video, it gave me a thought as to what I'm going to do to treat some rust area on my '80 MG. I read that POR-15's limitation is that it shouldn't be used on metal that might flex. Practical information, thank you sir

i did the same thing with rust bullet industrial coating on a vw bug,i can tell you now that thing is solid as a rock.I saw how thick the coating was and a light bulb went off and i tried it on a small spot.I went ahead and did all of the floor pans inside and out they were not rotted through but swiss cheese saved the car and you really cant tell the repair is there,i was wondering if anyone else had tried this.

I have a new video dropping tomorrow at 7am central, where I repair a decent size hole with this method. Hope to see you there, I appreciate you commenting and sharing your experiences!!! ✌️

I like that idea, looks like my kind of fix, because of my eye sight issues, I can not weld.

If the metal isn’t to gone, it will definitely work to seal it up and add some strength back to it. The beauty of using the por-15 like the resin is it doesn’t give up like traditional resin used with fiber glass. It’s also solvent and water proof. You have to do a few coats of it to close up all the pores of the fiberglass.

Wasn't Por-15 called rust-mort at one time?

I’ve only ever known it as POR-15. I’ve only seen it fail in a couple applications, the metal was extremely oily, even cleaned repeatedly with lacquer thinner and degreaser we couldn’t get all the oil out.

@@RealWorldGarage I have used rust mort before and when I mention it to anyone, Por-15 comes up, that's why I was wondering. I just know rust mort(one word?) will turn rust black, seal it and then you can paint it. I don't know how good it is for the long term, I guess comparable to Por-15, maybe the competitor. I haven't done restoration work in years so I'm out of date.
