you know, its weird, but I think this budget warboss turned out as one of the best ones yet. The base may have been cheap, but it was decently dynamic, and not a pose I'd seen a warboss in yet, and it gave him a much different feel than most warbosses I see.

I always love these Orky convertions. They are the main reason why I subscribed, and make me eager to try my own hand at it. While I really enjoy your vids, I feel like, and I know you don't paint, that the models would greatly benefit from at least a layer of primer and some basecoat + drybrush, to tie everything together. Like the color of the OG miniature shining through, green globs of greenstuff, especially on "metal" surfaces like the claws, white plastic card that extend the grey chest armor despite being different colors on the "same" piece. Same can be said for shin guards made of GS combined with regular grey plastic, which just really "bothers" me. It's nice to see what you're doing, and how creative you get, but I can hardly see the end result before my eyes. Sorry rant over. Anyway, keep on doing your stuff, enjoyable regardless.

I have an idea. Tau warboss. Hear me out... A warboss who already leans more towards shootahs than choppahs hears that "da blueskinz gotz da best dakka" and sets off to acquire some. I'm picturing the armor being made out of a looted battlesuit, with huge over the shoulder cannons, cobbled together to wrap around his hulking frame. Maybe instead of a normal powerklaw, he's just got a giant fuck off cleaver sword in mockery of his favorite foe. Alternatively, ork inspired Tau. Though I got no idea what that would look like. Just regular Tau but with four times the guns?

"I want to make a cheap Warboss that anyone can make" $5 more than the stock GW Warboss, not including all the shipping of parts, finding a specific cheap base model and the first part is a resin cast head.... I like the model (aside from having a gun barrel touching the back of his hand) but you didn't really nail your goals. My first attempt at a cheap Warboss was extending the proportions and bulking out a standard nob. Maybe start there next time?
@boneman-calciumenjoyer82903 жыл бұрын
That's actually a really good point, shipping is kinda important for the American crowd, since most bit sellers are located in Europe. So I suppose he didn't do that well when it came to cost effectiveness... model looks great tho.
@themageofcontext70713 жыл бұрын

Why didn’t you just use a 3D printer or parts from orks you didn’t color?
@giacomomasini96863 жыл бұрын
but if it's €18 just for the materials used, then you'd have to factor in the amount of time you spent building the whole model. You haven't said how much time it took to build it, but between choosing the right pieces, putting the green stuff on and waiting for it to solidify, and the overall assemblage, I'd wager that it took you at least an entire morning, or 3-4 hours. Assuming a €10/h, which is sort of a minimum wage, then you'd have to add other €30 euros to the model, which would make very, very expensive. Of course, if we're treating it like a full job, then you'd be making way more than just a single a model in that amount of time, but that's not really my point. Rather, regardless of you building it for a hobby, you're still selling it at a net loss for yourself, because you didn't give any value to the time and the mental work you yourself put in the model. Which is a shame, because it's clear that you're very talented. Now, if I had a friend who built models from scratch for a hobby, and would be willing to make one for me, as long as I payed the raw materials, then it'd be great. But I can watch this and say "screw the companies that are overcosted". Ok in part they are, but they also have to pay the employees, and at that point at least €5 euros on top of the components' base cost would be more than fair. Sorry for the long posts, but just to try and be clearer, where a company might put to high a price, thus overvaluing the "human labour" aspect, you're doing the exact opposite, by not giving a value at all to your own work.
@Zen17h3 жыл бұрын
Minor nitpick, but I think it would have looked better with the axe facing the other way. right now he looks like he just completed a swing, but the other way he would be starting his full-out attack
@ravener963 жыл бұрын
What, with the axe head pointing towards himself? Imagine holding an axe with the edge towards you and then striking someone... its an incredibly awkward motion... you are wrong
@Zen17h3 жыл бұрын
I think you're misunderstanding what I meant... Currently the axe head is pointing to his back right in his right hand I'm only saying the head itself (and only the head as it was attached to the shaft) should be rotated 180 degrees so it points to his front left, which would make it point to his target in front of him instead
