What is sociology???

I applied for a PGCE course and I had to make a video explaining to 16 year olds, "What is sociology?" It would have been better if I'd used a BBC-circa-1948 voice, but I didn't have the guts.

Sociology ATTEMPTS to answer these problems, but never answers them fully simply due to obsolete methods of research. The questions the were outlined in the beginning of the video will never be answered completely, due to society as a whole being a dynamic institution.

I have a GCSE in Sociology, but I didn't pick it as an a-level, because I picked Media studies instead. I liked this video, engaging and entertaining made me open my eyes to what I want to do. My careers coordinator told me she saw me as a sociologist, but being the critical person that I am I just brushed it aside without really knowing what its all about. Ok, I understand what questions can be answered through sociological study, but if we answered these questions then what will happen? what kind of advantages will a sociology student have? in term of money, job market etc. For example, engineering students have skills to produce something useful, a machine, or any other thing which are present today and these things have economic value as well. But what are the sociological productions which have economic value, and which are useful to society?

tahir junaid when you study society, you then add value to any kind of human relations job. Human Resources, management positions, especially marketing. It is valuable to know the audience and studying people in the society and how society works is important

+dennis robinson Well consider that interactions between people affects society as a whole and vise versa. They are relationel, meaning they cannot be separated and understood in isolation but must be understood in relation to each other. Sociology is concerned with everything social and that includes every facet of society from macro to micro level.
