I really appreciate that you aren't using expensive die cut machines. I don't have one and was getting discouraged watching other videos. Thank you for this tutorial, I can't wait to make some! 💜

Love the earrings , they are so pretty. I have a question, the edges of your cut earrings, are they not sharpe ? Do you sand them so they dont cut your skin ? Let me know, i'd love to try this.

I am totally inspired by your combination of shapes and texturing, plus color. And hooray for using texturing tools everyone has on hand. I can't wait to get started. You do leave one stone unturned though by not showing the backs. Surely you don't leave them with random can ink. Do you the pieces to get the paint off the back with nail polish remover?

Are the edges still sharp after cutting the shape with scissors or will could they still slice skin or clothing at that point?

This is fantastic. How did you get the edges so they didn’t cut skin?

I was surprised that they really weren't as sharp as I anticipated. If you cut in one smooth motion, no jagged cuts, it really isn't an issue (also round corners)

As in get rid of the print? You could try acetone, or you can sand it down.
@SharonLippincott

@@a.h.szabodesigns6649 see above about heating the can or the piece, then removing with nail polish remover. That gives you the same shiny surface as the front.

What about the fact that the edges will still be sharp on the earrings. If selling to people, that may well be a turn off and get bad reviews and such. I know you can sand the edges, but is that enough to prevent cuts? Thanks for the video.

I was surprised that they actually weren't sharp at all! If you cut in one smooth motion, and round corners, you're set!

Question??? What do you do so the back, printed part; does not show? do you paint it or what?
@SharonLippincott

You can heat the can to at least 250° F or more for maybe 15 minutes (toaster ovens work), then remove the paint with nail polish remover. You must heat it first! You can do the whole can or individual pieces this way.

Bonjour, comment faites vous pour que les bords ne restent pas coupants s'il vous plait ?
@a.h.szabodesigns6649
@a.h.szabodesigns6649 3 жыл бұрын
As long as the cut on the edge is smooth it isn't sharp. It is the jagged edges that are the issue.
@a.h.szabodesigns6649

Les bords ne sont pas tranchants si vous les coupez en une ligne lisse et des coins arrondis. Ce n'est net que si vous avez des coupes irrégulières.

I'm not sure where these came from, I've had them a long time. I either ordered them from Rio Grande jewelry supply, or they were part of my college metals tool kit.

You can buy them at any craft shop that has beading supplies. Maybe also places like Home Depot or Harbor Freight Tools.

What do you use the nail remover for?
@a.h.szabodesigns6649
@a.h.szabodesigns6649 2 жыл бұрын
Nail polish remover is used to play with the alcohol inks (rubbing alcohol works too) as well as clean the cans.

Just did a little research on the effects on human skin and apparently it states that "that only at excessive concentrations of aluminium are toxic manifestations seen and, hence aluminium is considered to possess a “low” potential for producing adverse effects." I hope that helps.
