This is episode #1 of Pop Culture History. We are creating content that is meant to be educational, but fun at the same time. Each episode will contain a topic that impacted culture, a societal norm, or brought about change in the culture itself. The first episode focuses on the history of the ColecoVision, the first home console that genuinely tried to bring an arcade experience into the home without sacrificing the quality due to technological constraints.

When is episode #2 expected to be complete? There was SO much in this Part #1 about the history of video games that I never knew! Very interesting to watch!

This was fantastic! Excellent job! As an Atari fanboy, I was always a little jealous of the CV's graphics ability. But definitely not the controllers! Not sure what they were thinking there. Looking forward to your next video. :D

Thanks for watching and the kind words! I had actually never played a ColecoVision when I was younger and had an Atari as well (and loved it!). Even today, Atari holds more nostalgia for me since it was my first gaming system. I am backing the Atari VCS as well and looking forward to it. And amen to the controllers!

That was very informative. I love learning how companies make drastic changes and become what the meant to be as opposed to what they set themselves out to be. Look forward to more.

Thanks for stopping by, Robert! I agree. It was interesting seeing how companies stay up with the times and compete for market share. I appreciate you watching.

Well, that was a walk down memory lane. We definitely had one of those Telstar pong consoles when I was a kid. And I completely forgot about the handhelds but remember having at least the football one. Can't wait for Part II. Now I'm gonna have to go through your videos and see if you've already done something on my beloved Commodore 64.

Funny you should bring up the Commodore 64. It might just pop up in part II.

This is great! I used to go to my friends house to play his Coleco Vision where Donkey Kong was played. I had the Atari 2600! Lol

Thanks for watching and for the compliment! What did you think of it when you played it? When I was a kid I also had the 2600 (and remember playing Pac-Man with the rectangle pellets), and never got the chance to give the ColecoVision a go back then.

Some of the games looked incredible for the time for sure. I owned an Atari as a kid so my Pac-Man had rectangle pellets. ColecoVision's Donkey Kong looked phenomenal!

@@PopCultureHistory I bought one when i was a kid I hated it i ended up with an Atari 5200 too and that was a joke canceled after only a dozen game titles but then i got the NES that rocked

@@karasprouse595 Cancelled that quickly.... reminds me of the Virtual Boy. It is crazy how a system goes through all of that work to make hardware and then games do not come out for it. :(. And I agree about the NES! That was my first "real" system. Love it to this very day.

@@PopCultureHistory Oh i remember that but then it was all red and most did not like it once they bought it not to mention the lack of content. They have had a few flops come out but for the most part our consoles are much better now even taking over where only PCs could go. My favorite being MAG from playstation 3. 256 players on a single map FPS. they had to downgrade the graphics a bit but what a hell of a game.

@@karasprouse595 Wow, someone else who played MAG! I played it because I suck at FPS games, so with 256 people running around, it made me seem like I sucked a lot less. :p
