from spectator's perspective it looked like Na'Vi's regular starts for Nuke T side absolutely crushed Vitality in that upper final. They definitely decided to try new strats that they developed and it seems like the strats were too raw and Boombl4 wasn't on point to fix them in mid round. I don't even remember their typical A default that is so good, neither they tried anything typical on ramp. All through outside and vent and just like with G2 they kept trying it until the half ended and they lost it. The difference is that they came back vs G2 and here they got some unlucky timings on CT with first gun round and then got snowballed on. I am no pro and I likely overlooked many things, but in general it seems like Na'Vi treated that Nuke in final as a learning experience for new strats, because Heroic and G2 are already close enough and it is worrying for their strongest map. On the upside they demolished Vitality on Inferno after that.

As a Danish CS GO fan I am incredibly embarrassed of how the fans acted in Royal Arena. Cheer as hard as you can for your team but stop with the booing. These guys put everything they have into their sport they deserved a minimum of respect. Booing at Shocks (which is a great player and funny guy) was just low AF. I think the booing of Heroic comes down to them getting busted for cheating most people don't believe for 1 sec. that the other players or org didn't know anything at all before or after. But ironically when the fans tried to help Astralis during play is just as much cheating (by the fans of course not Astralis). Vitality did great and deserved more respect this goes for any team really.

The discussion at the start of the video is very similar to a constant struggle in the MMA fan community. Growth in the community is great for production value and the income of players and organisations, but it lowers the percentage of hardcore fans and increases the percentage of casual fans. In MMA they worship the likes of McGregor, Khabib and other stars, in CS it’s Astralis
@PigeonPantz3 жыл бұрын
Good thought/analogy... but in this case it was only for the Danes and Astralis. And its happened historically for Astralis as well before a theoretical "mainstream boost." They might have said "hardcore fans" once but in reality they just meant fans of CS. They are pointing to the fact that Astralis the company with its Danish media and even polutical connections fostered this. Its not even really star chasers its just Astralis indoctrination and media contol in Denmark. All in all very few people in esports have a problem with nationalism in esports. It generally means people, like the Polish crowd, cheer MORE when old VP were winning. But here we are talking bad sportsmanship and cheating for a single team (bc notably the all danish Heroic lineup were also excluded)

I get the whole scripting argument, but in a way that could also be a good thing. I think it shows the confidence in your own gameplan and your individuals. I would give Boombl4 the benefit of the doubt in this case. He calls solid rounds and their protocols are very solid and I personally think that the whole team behind Navi (analysts and shit) do such a fantastic job that Boombl4 only has to do the in game leading and not the strat-creating. I would even argue that B1ad3 can spot things like the Kyojin thing on Nuke quite well and most of the time calls a timeout. I would also be interested in a statistic, how many rounds straight after a timeout are won by Navi, I feel like that number is pretty high. In essence I think that Navi´s system works right now and is very hard to criticize because they´re literally winning every tournament, most of the time by a far margin.
@franzralphuy68263 жыл бұрын
The thing about Maui's argument in Nuke is that in this Meta who wins the outside control wins the round regardless of who is in the sites. Yes Kyojin is dogshit but he still has the superior angles thats why Vitality put him in that position.

If my team is in the server, you bet I'm only cheering for them and booing the opponents who are trying to knock my team out. "If my team is in the server" Thats the whole point. It is when your team isn't in the server that they are talking about. "I'll cheer any good play when I'm a neutral spectator, but I'm definitely not cheering at the opponent when my team is playing." This is the exact opposite of what happened. Astralis was already knocked out of the tournament and two other teams were playing the grand final.

@@michael-gb3rn exactly, the crowd would have done the same for Navi and Vitality in France and Russia! And I've been to every AaB home game this season, so I know what the crowd is like. That's how it is here and in all other European countries where the fans care enough to support their own team.
