Fortnight is kinda the story of the entire album album told shortly and blandly + it has Post Malone feature. I bet she thought that his inclusion is gonna do the thing but guess what, it didn't. I mean she had Guilty As Sin? - soft rock masterpiece with pop and country influences, Down Bad - alien abduction synth pop masterpiece, My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Song - quite standard TS synth-pop bop, but with a new minimalistic approach, and you pick Fortnight - good, but nothing special song.

Sabrina was the opening act when I went to the Eras Tour and I TOLD A MILLION TIMES to ALL of my friends that were in attendance that they HAD to listen to Sabrina and get familiarized with her cause she was the best next thing. No one listened to me, obviously, and at least three ppl have told me they can't belive they lost the chance to truly enjoy her live cause she won't be coming back to South America in a really long time. In order to get in the recording academy, you have to apply with two recommendations from industry insiders. The process is peer-reviewed and community-driven. There are annual membership dues of $150 per year (which is chump change to these people), but the reason I’m bringing it up is to show that there is a process and barriers to entry. I think you’d be surprised at the people that can’t be bothered to even do it. There is a committee that reviews each entry.

@@theswiftologist you can not enjoy the song, but lyrically it is one of the best pieces of work on the album. guilty as sin is a cute pop song, but the lyrics are absolutely nothing special. not harmful whatsoever but also not great which is why taylor is smart for not putting in a song like that. hundreds of pop songs have lyrical content at the level of guilty as sin but fortnite is one of the most uniquely written songs i’ve heard all year. the rhyme scheme in the chorus along is incredible.

@@tasotheduck1997 it’s just very interesting melodically and the rhyme scheme is incredibly unique, i’ve really never heard anything like it. it’s a druggy hypnotic song about not being able to move on as quickly as your past partner and holding resentment for that. i feel that the song couldn’t have been better written. if you lay the lyrics out to all the songs on ttpd i promise fortnite stands near the top no matter what. the songs swiftologist tried to say are better like “guilty as sin” are catchy cute pop songs but the lyrics are absolutely nothing special by any means whatsoever. very cute but basic and wouldn’t get any notable awards. people need to separate their favorite from what’s objectively well written and artistically unique.
