Al is so successful because he IS so intelligent. To do parody properly, one must be well-read and quite smart. You can't just make obvious silly lyrics.. you need to tease the audience sometimes by switching up what they expect to hear. Al does that brilliantly.

2 Things: It's obvious that Jian was tired during this interview, but what I liked even more was the fact that we KNOW Weird Al is extremely intelligent, but what Weird Al found out early on in this interview is that Jian is also extremely intelligent. You can see in the interview that Weird Al picks up on that fact and we see a much more REAL Weird Al emerge, where he doesn't have to dumb things down. You can see that Weird Al is impressed by Jian's sharpness and in turn Weird Al delivers.

Also to the 3 thumbs down people, you can stay crusty and hopefully not bother the rest of us in the world having a good time and respecting genuine people like Weird Al.
@Madagon10 жыл бұрын
I think it is his old setup to get scheduling and info from outside the booth. E.g. in the vid where Billy Bob goes nuts you can read "If this goes sideways you can go to..." on it. My guess why they are still using it would be never change a running system.
@l8on9910 жыл бұрын
Madagon That is along the lines of what I was thinking. May be an antiquated system but is hardwired and works perfectly and in fact is very functional. So you are saying it is the communication system. Working in so many studios I have often used ancient patch bays and monitoring set-ups I would never change over modern tech. For example, we had a new ethernet linked monitoring system that was a headache due to external source issues and the old gear was better suited so we returned it. Same as my stations analog mixer vs. the new digital one we tried, it took days of tech support(us) to get it running properly and in the end it worked but still had issues so we went back to the analog. Thanks for the insight Madagon.

"How is it that you look so good. [...] Do you think it's part of it, the vegetarianism? [...] As a touring musician you seem healthier than most." "It's hard to say what to attribute that to, but I would like to put in a plug for the vegetarian diet because I think it makes sense and it's a healthy way to go. So sure, let's say that." One of the de rigueur things to say now, for some reason? Then kids do it, because so and so said so, and they don't know any better. How about being blessed with good genes, doing what you love, having a loving and supportive family, and not having too much stress in one's life or coping with it well being the culprit, as there's plenty of scientific evidence against vegetarianism. Aside from well-documented crucial nutrient deficiencies, vegans have much lower testosterone levels than their meat-eating counterparts (!), but also, as found in a recent Medical University of Graz study, the vegetarian diet carries elevated risks of cancer, allergies and mental health problems such as depression and anxiety. More widely known evidence, of cancer alone - and celebrities? Steve Jobs, a life-long vegetarian, died of cancer. Linda McCartney - died of breast cancer. Robin Gibb - of the Bee Gees, died of stomach cancer. Adam Yauch, Beastie Boys, died of cancer. Harvey Milstein, proponent of the raw food hygiene, died of colon cancer. George Harrison - died of lung cancer. Eva Ekvall, Miss Venezuela, died of breast cancer age 29. Vihara Youkta, yogini, dancer and raw food enthusiast for some 30 years, died of bowel cancer. So plugs like this are certainly non-evidence based and are quite misleading, if anyone takes what celebrities say seriously.
@acadianalien10 жыл бұрын
This is a textbook example of Correlation does not equal Causation. They could have all died from other reasons than not eating meat. Even if they were Vegetarians, there are way too many factors in play to blame it on that. In North America we eat WWAAAYYY too much Cheese and Sugar, both being allowed for Vegetarians, that could be linked. It could also be all the drugs celebrities take. You also did not mention all the celebrities that did not die of cancer, so the sample is biased from the start since you cherry-picked the ones that died.
@sshelget10 жыл бұрын
I would say he's healthy because he doesn't use drugs or alcohol! (Thank God there ARE people who do not.)
@whatevergoesforme51296 жыл бұрын
I do think it is the genes and also the fact that he did have great and supportive parents and friends. He also doesn't have vices associated with many artists. Drugs and alcohol and other vices affect the physical body negatively as well as the one's mental and emotional health. As for the diet, I am more of a keto diet supporter but I don't want to put down vegetarians. However, sugar (carbs) is the main culprit why people are generally unhealthy. I am not even on a strict keto diet but I was able to lose weight and my blood sugar became normal.
