I hated that period of time here in Brooklyn & the damage that that whole era created is still being felt today. Having said that, Sam was a neighbor & a classmate in elementary school through our I.S. years at 302. He lived 3 blocks away from me on Elton St. & we played like all kids did. I knew him until I stopped playing ball & DJing in the area in the very early 80s. I can honestly say that I was totally shocked when his story hit the newspapers & the news back then because for as long as I had known him from elementary school right through our teens, he had never been the kind of guy that was in those news stories. Sam wasn't even the kind of guy who was in the streets acting crazy, or even fighting. I know that people changed, but that was a 180 from the guy that I knew from school & the neighborhood. I don't know what he did or didn't do. I was just shocked to hear all of that about him.

I got locked up for a robbery I didn’t do or know of @ 18 just walking home, had a bail and had to fight the case for months until it was dismissed, the guy who did it got caught weeks later but I still was fighting it like we were together, mind you he had no accomplices and he was about 6’3 and I’m 5’10 it’s no way they made that mistake they just wanted somebody to go down for it
