What a great movie!! There's a short story called "Вий" by a russian writer Gogol. An old witch died so for several nights a priest had to pray for her. In order to stay safe he had to stay in the circle. She couldn't see and hurt him that way. It was as if he were surrounded by a bulletproof glass wall. The witch couldn't get inside the circle. Then she called her helpers from hell to help her find where the priest was hiding. It didn't end well there either.

Well said. I love my job but there's no way of not getting attached. The worst is when they die a piece of your heart goes with them. It's like losing someone in your family. The sadness and depression takes over. I go right back too what I love. This job is not for someone who has no ♥. I've seen many I've worked with was only in it for the money. The patient can tell if you love what you do best. Bless the good caregivers that love what they do. Bless you.

It’s an incredible intense movie. I remember my days dealing with my mom who had end staged dementia. It made me helpless to see how helpless my mom became. Just like this old, petrified woman in the movie.

Interesting movie. I understood as soon as I saw the box kept in a circle of chalk dust in the living room. The process of living forever involves a young victim. I suppose anyone who doesn’t get it should watch the movie ‘Skeleton Key’ (Kate Hudson) to understand The sacrificial ritual. Rule #1. Do not enter the circle. It is meant to keep the victim within.

I can't understand how anyone can get past the first half hour. Hated the violin music and understood, why when my dad wanted me to study medicine, I said no way in hell. This is as depressing as it gets. I couldn't feel sorry for the woman or figure out how the guy would think this was a good way to earn money. I'll just look to see if any one posted a summary.

👍 It was ok. I'll give it 1 thumbs up. I thought it was slow, & it didn't pick up until about an hour in. Many parts were inaudible, & even CC couldn't pick up what they were saying. I've also never seen a movie that inserted "Chapter 1,2,3",etc... As though you were reading a book or something. Also, what the heck was up w/that woman in the beginning saying the house needed remodeling? That house was GORGEOUS! 👍👍 For the movie Channel. THANK YOU for not bombarding the movie w/ads! You just got a new Sub because of it!

Okay, so I know ppl read comments before they decide to watch the movie or not. So here are my thoughts on the movie. First off, the old lady Agnes's accent was so hard to bloody understand 98% of the time and she would mumble meaningless things that made absolutely no sense. Don't even bother clicking on the subtitle button because even then it would be just blank or write what they thought it was which I knew it was not what she said. She was one cranky old hag and her breathing was so disgusting to listen to ugh. It looked like she practiced some kind of black magic or something that was definitely evil. Her adopted daughter, Annie had enough of her miserable mother and needed a break. So she hired a nurse to work for I think a couple of weeks. Even sometimes what she said was hard to understand especially at the end. I rewound and went back a few times to try and figure out what she said and then gave up because frankly, I didn't give a damn. When John was listening to the tape recorder near the end. I had no idea what Agnes said on the tape and I knew that was the clincher for the movie. I did try rewinding a few times to catch what was said since the subtitle was no help at all and still no comprendo. Then when John found Annie tied up and after untying her. They both go running downstairs. Annie tells John that we need to bury the body now and John tells her that Agnes is dead and she is alive (119:56). Umm so which is it, John? Then Annie says "oh you poor boy you don't understand..." and after that was all mumbles that any scholars would not be able to decipher. Agnes murdered someone with an axe that John knew when he was a kid? (that was him as a kid I am assuming). So who was it? Was it his brother because the only thing is it sounded like a girl crying. So is that what the bloody connection was between Agnes and him? And why did Annie come out smiling at the end? I am assuming John got killed? Or did John needed to be killed so Agnes could continue living because remember John said Agnes is dead and she is alive (119:56)? So the title "Don't Open Your Eyes" I think at the end when John was praying and Annie had her eyes closed. He opened them and that is why he was attacked and killed? Anyways, if you want to watch a movie that has a raspy gross salvia intense breathing and incoherent talking even with the aid of subtitle being used. And the confusion of what happened at the end. Go for it because it did have some scary scenes. The house on the lake was beautiful and well I am going to stop here.

Possession, mental, superstition or oxygen deprivation= hallucinations. Ive worked in a hospital as a lab assistant/phlebotomist, and I've witnessed this exact behavior. The elderly when they are passing, ramble, talking to their loved ones.(whom have been deceased) incoherent mumbling. This, is to me a well written screenplay.
