One of the things I love about this movie is that it gives the actors time to actually act. The movie has a very long running time, especially given the fairly simple plot. Brad Pitt’s body language in this scene is what makes this scene work. When he was playing “Joe” he was calm, cool and completely in control of himself. His movements were not rushed. He moved only what he had to, when he had to. Here in this scene his movements are nervous, rushed and awkward. He is in fact embarrassed. You can see that in his movements, expressions, his eyes and words. This is flawless acting. EDIT: Claire Forlani’s acting in this scene is done entirely with her eyes, tone of voice and facial expressions. And she absolutely nails it.

I'm tired of faceless beauties, aesthetically uniformed, that I can't tell apart. Their aesthetics are painted on their faces...or rather, carved with the surgical knife of plastic surgeons. But I've always been in search of something deeper that I've never seen on those faces. Claire possesses all this depth in quantities that amaze and mesmerize someone like me. Her eyes can write their own dictionary. In addition, the woman knows how to move. She's not afraid to be awkward at times, only to demonstrate all the splendor of femininity in the next frame in a special Claire branded way. I'm honestly amazed that such a phenomenon hasn't achieved a bigger career considering what empty human forms we see on screens today. On the other hand, I've read that she's been attacked several times by producers, so I'd gladly trade her security for not appearing in films. I know she's out there somewhere, safe and I hope happy, and that with her beauty and grace she enriches the lives of those she's chosen to be with.

So when they first met, it was chemistry. But he was taken for some reason, we do not know. Random death happens sometimes. But we remember the scene when Joe asks Parish about meeting his wife. He had just asked several questions and Parish correctly pointed out that he must have heard these so many times. But he asked anyways... Because that's the part that is interesting... Not the part that is usual, the part that is unique. And the story he tells is of when Parish met his wife and it hits him so hard it cracks his shell and I believe is the only time in the movie that he cries. Not for his own death, not even for hers, but for the moment he first saw her... This is what death finds interesting. Pure love at first sight. The magical experience of instant chemistry. Something many of us have experienced, but in most cases, we don't act on it and the moment passes by to be just another forgotten memory. But sometimes. Not very often. If everything is just right... A connection is made that is wondrous enough that it transcends Death itself. Indeed, to create life is procreation, but to create love is a wonder.

The guy's been gone for weeks. His family and friends must've gone crazy looking for him. He probably lost his job, his pet starved to death. "OMG! Where have you been?! What happened?!" "I don't know, I remember nothing about all the time I was gone, but it's fine, don't worry" 😂
