Yes, Pootin must negotiate to get Russian troops safe passage OUT of the sovereign country of Ukraine that is not their country and whose civilians, including women and children, they killed and unfettered passage BACK to their mother Russia. Read up about his work and how he lived as Archbishop of Buenos Aires in Argentina and you will see that you're wrong about this. He took the subway everywhere to be with the people and often visited the slums of the city and implored political leaders to do something about poverty. I'm not even Catholic but Pope Francis is an incredibly humble servant of and advocate for the poor.

I'll also assume your English is quite parochial by the standards of an educated adult, but it's enough to get you through life at your level. If there are no incentives or personal interests, most people don't pick up another language and many don't even work to improve their own. The pope speaks Spanish, French and Portuguese at a high level, but struggles with English and German, although he's given speeches in both and can understand written and spoken English/German. So how many languages can you read, speak and/or understand? Again, odds are only one, and not very well.

In addition to that, countless more people have received education through Catholic elementary or secondary schools, and/or universities. And in addition to that, nearly 10 million Americans receive social or medical services through Catholic charities, while Cstholic hospitals are the largest non-profit healthcare provider in the US. In other words, there's an enormous subset of the US population that has some type of direct contact with the Catholic Church, and are interested in what the Church's spiritual leader has to say. Maybe in your dump of a state, where some folks are still frozen in the 19th Century, this might be big news. But in 2024, you're just another lonely voice on the internet.
