The document does not merely call for the blessings of individuals in irregular marriages; it obliges priests to bless same sex "couples", per se. The term, couple, of course, is intentionally slippery, but one may safely assume that the physical manner of sexual coupling is undoubtedly operative in the intention of the requesting of such blessing, and in the reception of the blessings. One of the ‘two issues’ that John Allen refers to is the relaxing of celibacy rules so as to allow married Priests in the Roman/Latin Rite. In response to some journalists questions, Pope Francis reaffirmed the gift of celibacy, reaffirming the good that it does in the Church. In fact, Pope Francis ‘declared he’d rather die than be the one who undermined this noble tradition [celibacy]’. While it’s not true that we don’t know where Pope Francis stands on these issues (we do know), what John Allen says about the Holy Father having had sufficient time to enact these reforms is true, especially in light of the many synods, like the Amazon Synod, which discussed such reform indicating the Pope’s unwillingness and reluctance to enact such change.

You know PERFECTLY well that "NATO barking at Russia's door" was NEVER the SLIGHTEST actual danger - and even if it had been, would still be nothing to do with the reason for Putain's invasion. Your métier might well be Catholic journalism - rather than world politics (although clearly, there is some degree of overlap) - but I repeat, you are perfectly well aware, as is everyone at the Vatican, that WHATEVER Putain says at any theoretical future peace negotiations, is utterly immaterial as we can all bet everything we own with a 100% chance of winning the bet, that at some future point, likely years not decades, Putain will be back at his old ways, only this time bigger, stronger and better prepared. Do clear is that future path - that any attempt to cut it short for the sake of saving lives today, would represent, in Catholic terms, a mortal sin. I'm not even a believer - but I know that if there is a god up there, he would surely be mightily displeased at the trading of one life today, for instead, two, in 4 or 5 years time.... Just a friendly reminder to show politicians that Americans have passed high school or college Biology this election. Yes, his 23 chromosomes plus her 23 makes a NEW person. All the slogans that say otherwise are either LIES or made by people who are terribly misinformed. When one is pregnant, one has already Reproduced! That new little human being may have a different sex than the mother or a different blood type. The sex is capable of being known by a blood test 8 weeks after conception. If male, the Y chromosome shows up. ( Also by outward anatomy seen on an ultra sound or at birth - tell this to our schools and politicians!) A doctor gives a shot to the woman after abortion because the child's and the mother's blood type might not have matched and this rh factor has been known since 1939 to cause problems for later pregnancies. Also, humans don't grow extra body parts; we don't "regenerate" like sea stars or lizards. Humans don't get an extra beating heart or brain waves or legs that kick or fists that punch. So, that little human is NOT her body. That is a separate body that belongs to her child. Tell politicians we don't want ignorant persons or liars to run our country. We've taken Civics! We've taken Social Studies! We know we have a democratic REPUBLIC. We've said the "Pledge of Allegience to the Flag" a thousands of times through school. It says REPUBLIC. Hum the much loved Civil War era song "Battle Hymn of the Republic". We have a Republic. How come some of our leaders don't KNOW this? Ignorance or lies? Ever been to Yosemite or seen pictures? It used to be covered by glaciers. Ever read or seen the movie, "Grapes or Wrath"? Weather changes happen. Antartica used to be green. The Mojave Desert was once covered by water. The issue is reliance on foreign oil and maintenance of our own resources- not weather. We've taken geography, literature, history, and earth science! Let's offer counseling and compassion for the sexually confused and remind them to take their problems to their doctors or psychologists - not to children's classrooms.
