Ivan Trevino and Michael Burritt perform Ivan's marimba duo Catching Shadows. While some might know the percussion sextet version, Catching Shadows was first written as a marimba duo for Michael and Ivan to perform together.

assuming by the different camera angles, im sure they recorded a bunch of takes and kept the best by each part and put it all into one. Nothing wrong with that though

@@cg7240 This piece has quite some breaks where it is easy to cut. So you just have to get one sequence in one go and then use the best ones for the video. And of course the microphones have to stay in one place. It is quite impressive what you can do with professional cutting. It is possible that they did it in one take but we can't be entirely sure.

@@dman2204 no, all of my videos I create are 1 take with 3 different cameras. Mine look like garbage compared to theirs because they clearly paired with a professional recording company of sorts to get high quality equipment. This is indeed one take. The way you do this is to have around 5 cameras and 4 microphones and do one take, using editing to put them together. In editing, you line up the sound of each camera and microphone and then edit each of the perspectives to flow together.

Bennett fairall Hey Bennett! I believe Professor Burritt is using his Malletech MB8's (maybe an MB13 in his top mallet) and I'm using my Malletech IT13's with a Concerto 4 in the bass.

I am a sophomore in high school and I am learning this with a close friend of mine. This past year has been really difficult for me to get through because I haven't been able to play due to tendonitis issues from over practice. I am just getting back into playing four mallet and your music has reignited my fire and passion for percussion. We can only strive to put as much meaning and beauty into this music as you two have. Thank you!

@chloedupras8522

I think if you try hard enough, you'll be able to do it. While I haven't played this piece before, I think that if you practice a lot and get help from instructors or teachers, it shouldn't be too bad. A passion for playing will definitely help, too. I started 4 mallet grip back in September and have improved loads. I moved to a new school this year and they did a show based off this piece for spring concert season for competitions last year, and usually in percussion ensemble it only takes a few months to learn the songs. So if you keep practicing, you'll be able to do it in no time :) sorry for the long response, I just want everyone to go for their dreams and stuff~

In other words, he got promoted and his new promotion place is in San Antonio. This specific song will make me remember all of those happy memories of beginner band, to wind ensemble. If you’re seeing this Mr. Land, just know that you were the best percussionist teacher ever. I hope we can play Mario kart again sometime

The composition style really suits the modern day music that kids listen to, but it really also draws in musicians that are a little older and it has already inspired so many.
