I think for the characters people like to fight against, you have the ones that are combo food, that’s the big one. This also has the sub category of easy to gimp. Captain Falcon is kind of easy to gimp, but he also does cool stuff which probably put him up. Then there are a bunch of Fire Emblem characters, who I find sometimes are easy to gimp, but might be viewed as more honest characters, I personally feel that way about Marty especially, which may be why he’s top 10. The most hated ones are the ones that control neutral to a dominating degree, being Min-Min, Sonic, and Steve. That’s my take anyways.

With my experiences with friends playing my characters: #1 Ganondorf - I dunnoooo... People get tired of my shenanigans when I pull him out :3 #5 Ridley - They get to have fun with their combos as I watch them get creative. Meanwhile, I get to catch them off-guard to do massive damage/take stocks. So it's a win-win. If Sephiroth wasn't here, he might've become my main.. still tempted too as it's hard to resist the big bad dragon #9 Marth - Melee main. Love tippers, but as a Sephy main I feel like I'm cheating whenever I play Marth. I can attack, and then cover the air dodge and it feels so OP #12 Mewtwo - This character makes my friends go from being confused, to thinking he's really awesome.... Makes me really tempted to learn proper combo routes and such with him. #26 Kirby - Short range combo focused mains loooove fighting Kirby as the matchups just end up being an all out brawl for the entire match, it's so fun! Anyone else is either not fond of being in the blender, or maybe subject to my trollyness.... Hard to resist cheese with Kirby since I haven't gone that in-depth with him yet.. Why is it so easy to use his cheese? lol #32 Sephiroth - My "main" that I struggle to stick with because I love playing everyone.... Honestly people are more of "oh it's the main", rather than talking about stuff Sephiroth does so it's hard to know for sure. I do like the Sephiroth vs Bayo matchup though. #37 Joker - Bayo players suggests I play Joker quite a bit, that is until I realized that I'd rather play MK since the gameplay feels vaguely familiar. So I've upped gun & side b usage and it made games signifcantly easier. They don't like Joker being played that way. Everyone else just likes Joker no matter what. #41 Meta Knight - "fan favorite" of my old smash group, people calling to go fight against it, and even back in Smash 4 people were praising the Meta Knight. Newer group seems to not want to deal with his intensity, but ultimately love how terrifying he can be #42 Lucario - On and off maining him since Smash 4. I always do better when I'm about to lose, so Lucario just leans into that, and high aura Lucario is also so addicting. People always say he's so intimidating to fight. #45 Inkling - Everyone actually loves fighting Inkling, but they generally feel hallow victories since Inkling struggles to KO often. #59 Snake - Everyone loved him at first, but everyone (including me) got tired of him once we realized that most of us use combo characters, and snake just says "no combos for you. Have frame 1 grenade". #65 Toon Link - Most seem neutral, but I have Young Link vs Toon Link duels with one person and it always feels amazing as we're both fast with similar options. #82 Mii Swordfighter - I use 2213 Rathalos armor 'cuz reminds me of playing Monster Hunter Insect Glaive and Lance (vaguely). Turns out it's really fun and aggressive as I'm always on the opponent's butt. Bayo player hates it, but others seem to like it for a change of pace (though probably too simplistic for long term usage). I may have to try the chakram tournament build for Mii Swordfighter, but it's hard to resist dashing around non-stop threatening the opponent constantly at all ranges #85 Sonic - Kazuya main and Bayo main hate Sonic a bunch. Other than that Sonic gets loved a lot. 'course since I've been trying to just learn the character, been handicapping myself by never using side B, and I try to aggressive as I can using reads and everyone else seems to love playing my Sonic. Interesting to look at this list though. I feel which characters are fun definitely depends on the level of play, and what characters you are using. For me I just dislike characters that simplify/take away parts of the game like Min Min, and characters that waste your time like Steve/Wario avoiding you to get their power ups, along with certain floaty characters. Isabelle and Sora are okay, but with how much time you spend just floating back to stay is just too much for me.

Sonic being one of my mains, I can say with absolute certainty that Yoshi, Kirby and k rool are near the top of my most hated list, if for no other reason than getting eaten/sucked out of a spin dash or homing attack. Also, characters with comeback mechanics. By the time they're at a percent where sonic can actually kill them, they are in their stupid super saiyan mode, and all the work to set them up for a kill just goes out the window. There's always bad matchups, even for top tiers.
