Please do a part 2 video on this. I love this kind of video. I DNF Icebreaker too, couldn’t connect with main characters. I tend to read a few of the low star reviews (even some spoilers) before I read a new book just so I have an idea about what people disliked about the books (and I did that for that Lauren book & someone mentioned the reason for their breakup and I didn’t even read that book because of that). I did love the Bonds that tie series, but I did have to push myself to finish the last book so it was slow. There is one book that everyone loves and I truly think I am the one person that DNF this book.

This is a great idea of a video because sometimes I don't know which books to pick up and then regret doing it based on booktok choices.

Finally, someone said it!! I dragged myself through Adeline (and I had the audiobook, it didn't help much) and even with the cliffhanger at the end, I have absolutely no desire to read book 2, I don't get ittt

Oh my gosh I felt the same way with love and other words!! The 11 year separation was WAY WAY too long (if it was like 4 or 3 years or something it would have made way more sense to me)and it just doesn’t seem believable at all to me that it would have happened. The whole break up thing with him cheating but not remembering and then her dad dying and it just all of it didn’t make sense and wasn’t fun to read. And I can’t believe we had to wait until the end to find out why she ghosted him because it just made her seem like a jerk the whole time. Also I’m probably the only person who felt this way but I’ve read high school romances before where the young characters have sex but this was the first time that it felt super weird to me for some reason? Maybe it was just because the characters felt really young but I wish the sex scene when they were young was just fade to black or something? I don’t know but it felt weird and uncomfortable to me🤷‍♀️
@ashleyl.8

Also I didn’t like people we meet on vacation for basically your same reasons. The break up reason was so dumb and I feel like so many of these second chance romances don’t have near enough relationship development in the present timeline

I agreed so much with these. I actually manage a bookstore and majority of my "booktook" section is a "how is this popular" vibe. I was curious if you've ever read a Stephen King book, are y? I found you because of my love for Sarah J. Maas, but I honestly would love to see you do a review on Misery or Firestarter or even Christine.

I did a 30 day inpatient program last spring, found out the e-reader I’d been told was fine to bring was NOT FINE after all, & ended up with zero reading material for my stay. One of the ladies on my floor gave me People We Meet On Vacation, saying she’d heard it was popular but just couldn’t get into it, & maybe I’d like it better. Well…even with zero other book choices, I just couldn’t do it either. Ended up resigning myself to watch ID Discovery for a month instead lol

I was soooo disappointed in icebreaker. This book was entirely too long and didn’t follow through with most of the plot points. There were barely any scenes of them skating together, she really only used her planner that was apparently her entire personality at the beginning and end, and the expectation that her parents were crazy and only wanted her to skate was false and very short lived. It tried to do entirely too much. And the idea that she could go solo and immediately win gold is :) infuriating.

Why do you have more of an issue with the character inconsistencies in Haunting Adeline’s writing than the fact that it literally romanticizes r*pe?
@AvivasLibrary
@AvivasLibrary Жыл бұрын
When i read dark romances I expect things like that to happen. It was written in the trigger warnings and therefore I cannot complain about a book that specifically states what you are getting yourself into… if you are uncomfortable reading a fictional book that has topics along those lines, then you were clearly warned at the beginning that this might not be the book for you… but I do have an issue with inconsistencies within a character’s personality, because if he’s going to be a rapist, then he shouldn’t also be someone who hunts down and kills other rapists because he believes that they are bad people and what they do are wrong.
