Everytime when i listen to this song i use to cry, i'm a unknown child i don't know about my true parents, i was raised by a unknown family! They treat me well.... But sometimes i really needed to see my own mom's dad's face once for one last time 😢 this song last forever ❤

Lyrics : Yeah I know sometimes things may not always make sense to you right now But hey, what daddy always tell you? Straighten up little soldier Stiffen up that upper lip What you crying about? You got me Hailie, I know you miss your mom, and I know you miss your dad When I'm gone, but I'm trying to give you the life that I never had I can see you're sad, even when you smile, even when you laugh I can see it in your eyes, deep inside you want to cry 'Cause you're scared, I ain't there, daddy's with you in your prayers No more crying, wipe them tears, daddy's here, no more nightmares We gon' pull together through it, we gon' do it Laney uncle's crazy, ain't he? Yeah, but he loves you girl and you better know it We're all we got in this world, when it spins, when it swirls When it whirls, when it twirls, two little beautiful girls Lookin' puzzled, in a daze, I know it's confusing you Daddy's always on the move, mamma's always on the news I try to keep you sheltered from it, but somehow it seems The harder that I try to do that, the more it backfires on me All the things growing up, his daddy, daddy had to see Daddy don't want you to see, but you see just as much as he did We did not plan it to be this way, your mother and me But things have gotten so bad between us, I don't see us ever being together Ever again like we used to be when we was teenagers But then of course everything always happens for a reason I guess it was never meant to be But it's just something we have no control, over and that's what destiny is But no more worries, rest your head and go to sleep Maybe one day we'll wake up, and this will all just be a dream Now hush little baby, don't you cry Everything's gonna be alright Stiffen that upper-lip up, little lady, I told ya Daddy's here to hold ya through the night I know mommy's not here right now, and we don't know why We fear how we feel inside It may seem a little crazy, pretty baby But I promise momma's gon' be alright Huh, it's funny I remember back one year when daddy had no money Mommy wrapped the Christmas presents up and stuck 'em under the tree And said, "Some of 'em were from me, 'cause Daddy couldn't buy 'em" I'll never forget that Christmas, I sat up the whole night crying 'Cause daddy felt like a bum See daddy had a job But his job was to keep the food on the table for you and mom And at the time every house that we lived in Either kept getting broke into and robbed Or shot up on the block And your Mom was saving money for you in a jar Tryna start a piggy bank for you, so you could go to college Almost had a thousand dollars 'til someone broke in and stole it And I know it hurt so bad, it broke your momma's heart And it seemed like everything was just startin' to fall apart Mom and dad was arguin' a lot, so momma moved back On the Chalmers in the flat one-bedroom apartment And dad moved back to the other side of 8 Mile on Novara And that's when daddy went to California with his C.D And met Dr. Dre, and flew you and momma out to see me But daddy had to work, you and momma had to leave me Then you started seeing daddy on the T.V And momma didn't like it, and you and Laney were to young to understand it Papa was a rollin' stone, momma developed a habit And it all happened too fast for either one of us to grab it I'm just sorry you were there and had to witness it first hand 'Cause all I ever wanted to do was just make you proud Now I'm sittin' in this empty house Just reminiscing, lookin' at your baby pictures It just trips me out To see how much you both have grown It's almost like you're sisters now Wow, guess you pretty much are, and daddy's still here Laney, I'm talkin' to you too, daddy's still here I like the sound of that, yeah, It's got a ring to it, don't it? Shh, momma's only gone for the moment Now hush little baby, don't you cry Everything's gonna be alright Stiffen that upper-lip up, little lady, I told ya Daddy's here to hold ya through the night I know mommy's not here right now, and we don't know why We fear how we feel inside It may seem a little crazy, pretty baby But I promise, momma's gon' be alright And if you ask me too Daddy's gonna buy you a Mockingbird I'ma give you the world I'ma buy a diamond ring for you, I'ma sing for you I'll do anything for you to see you smile And if that Mockingbird don't sing, and that ring don't shine I'ma break that birdies neck I'd go back to the jeweler who sold it to ya And make him eat every karat, don't fuck with dad (haha)

This song reminds me of the relationship that I USED to have with my father. My connection with him used to be so strong, then we just fell apart. It hurt so much, and it still does, everytime I hear this song it makes me cry, but it also makes me happy to remember the good times.

My dad was a drunk. My mom was a manipulator and an abuser. Im 30 now with two kids of my own. My dad used to play this song for me as a kid and tried to say it was us and that he loved us. But that wasnt true. Now as a mother myself i listen to this song and promise myself my kids will never have to listen to songs like this and feel that empty ache in their chest because they can relate to the struggle. If i am not a good mother to them, if i fail them in anyway close to the way my parents did that will be my biggest regret and mistake. They are my entire life. I WILL give them everything that i didnt have. End of story. No excuses.

This reminds me a lot of my childhood. My mom always tried to keep me away from my dad cause my dad was married to a drug addict after my mom left him. It gets even more complicated than that. I have psychosis and as I child I never knew what it was, so my mom made me feel like I had to hide from everyone. My mom even made up a song for me to sing to myself at school cause I'd act out a lot I was violent for no reason sometimes. My mom said to stay away from the other kids, and when other kids were touching me inappropriatly my mom did nothing when I told her she said it was normal and told me to not do anything. I grew up with no friends, I developed Major depressive disorder from the time I was only 8 and wished to die. My dad did the best he could well my dad worked at AK steal when I was young and there was a huge explosion and I was crying for my dad thinking he was gonna die it was my aunt me and my mom in the car. And when we got there my dad showed up to the end of the fence that separates the building from the other side of the highway. My aunt and my mom thought I was sleeping cause I got quiet after a bit. And as my aunt was getting out to grab child support my aunt said "all we care about is the money" I heard it. I look outside and I could hear my dad asking if he could say hi to me and my aunt said no, you can't and she's asleep. I waved to him and he waved back my aunt just ignored it and he handed the money over and we drove off. But even though my childhood was rough I have a good relationship with my dad and me and my mom are now good even though there are things I will never forget what she has done. There is a lot more I could say.. but it's a long story.. Edit: I wanted to thank everyone for the kind words, I did not expect to get this much attention. I hope you all have a good day, and bless you all. I am in a much better place now, I currently live with my dad and my boyfriend. My BF and I of 3 years are planning to move out soon to get our own place. My mom and dad get along now, they are happy and with their significant others. My dad has a back injury so he is unable to work he is recovering and I am helping him any way I can. Again thank you all so much for the support!

I can relate to this song so much, my dad being an immigrant from Mexico and growing up poor, when my mom had me and my brother, all he wanted was to give us the world and give us a good childhood, a childhood he couldn’t have because he started working at 7 years old to survive

I love this song, it makes me wanna cry. I used to be daddy's princess but my parents were always fighting. Living in the hood and we were broke. My daddy left us and my ma tried keeping me and my lil bro from him. Momma didn't have a good job and she wasn't around much either. I grew up raising another kid. This song just hits so hard.

I just listened to this and I’m in tears. Me and my father didn’t speak for a whole year because he never apologized to me for… things that he did. That hurt like crazy, looking at his messages with disgust and feeling angry at someone so important in my life. Just a month ago he said sorry and we’re talking a bit more… this song feels so much like something he would say to me
