Direction of railing aside. It is good to watch a video of someone who has done the work and mentions tips for how to do get good results, such as the cutting. The manufacturer and Lowes certainly do not do this. Thanks.

Hello William, Glad it was helpful! We agree that the manufacture's directions can be quite sparse. Thank you for the kind comment and for visiting, have a great day.

Great job with the video, nice, easy and to the point. I'm considering these but think I want the vinyl/composite opposed to the aluminium. I do see there is an error on install, minor oversight 🙃 but the process was thorough. Thanks again. Take care.

Thank you for the comment. If the mistake you referred to is that the railing is up side down, that has been pointed out before BUT I like it better that way. If installed per the directions, the top edge has squared off edges. The bottom is more rounded. I like the more rounded edge on the top. I think it is easier to grip that way and easier on my hands. Thank you for visiting and have a great day.

35 and I appreciate longer explanations on things that need it. If you watch and readnthe veranda composite handrail install its way to short. It assumes ive done it before and they want me to waste at least one oanel to have to buy anothwr i feel. Thanks for the info about longest first. The gap needed with cut. It just says 0.5" but is that ok both ends or total divided by 2. Infuriating. Here goes nothing! Next up stairs , stair stringers (10 step) x4 for comoosite stair treads lol...also landing ugh

Wayne, you need to check the direction of your mounting, top & bottom. You have the small rail on top and bracket screws on top. This is not per instructions. Large rail is the top. Bracket screw holes should be below the railing, both top and bottom.

I knew something seemed off it is upside down.

I'm getting ready to install as well and agree. Seems logical to have the large portion on top. If the grooved is on bottom all it's gonna do is catch water and trash.

You installed the rails upside down. The wide rail goes on the top.

Yes I did. It was a mistake BUT after I figured it out, I like them upside down. The reason is the bottom rail is smaller with more rounded edges. To me this makes it easier to hold on to. The top rail is wider and has more squared edges that I can't grip as easily. So yes they are upside down but I would install them this way if I had others to install. Thanks for visiting.
