How did I miss this group while they were around? spent the last 2 years realising what I missed

Mostly metal musicians were into this band. Of course Rush fans and Prog Rock fans in general loved them but it was professional Death Metal musicians who turned me on to them. They would have PT on their iPods back in the day. Kind of funny but true. Probably because it’s so dark and the musicianship of course. All the drummers I ever knew loved them.

Every time I fall I come to this song. so beautifully put in music and words. The void, the hollowness. At least I can keep my soul together with my body when I listen to this, if only for a few minutes.

This song is about some talented artist who don't go mainstream. The dots on the shore representing the mainstream artists. The war he wages represents the ongoing battle of trying to make it big/ go mainstream. This song points out that some good songs/musicians are not always heard.

You just ruined this song for me. It was a deep and existencial to me because I didnt understand it. Now that you explained it, its just boring! Stop doing that.

+Johhhhhnny I'm sorry for explaining the meaning behind the song. can't change that.

I disagree to a point, I think its wilson saying that even though he's made it big, he's still human, he feels he didn't sell out, maybe even regrets it to a point. He still struggles and trys to write good music, that sometimes it can be hard, he trys to not just cash out on the porcupine tree name, or the steven wilson name, even though he probably could. The beauty of a lot of wilsons songs, to me anyway, is they could be taken a few ways. There is rarely a "definative" answer. It depends on the listener. That's my opinion, anyway.

hmmm..IMHO, the meaning of every great piece of Art lies in the heart and in the imagination of every single person that enjoy it - even if the intentions of the artist are known. If that doesn't happens, well..that's not Art

We just lost Sushant Singh Rajput, a young and very talented actor, to suicide. He was 34. Reason was lack of Mainstream commercial success. This song resonates so beautifully with me now. RIP Sushant 🙏🙏🙏

Unfortunately, one extraordinarily talented musician, I believe, committed suicide because of the lack of any more commercial success, that story is just to sad to me, but, I do talk to him all the time.........!.........
