Her hair was stunning. .. As for your work, I mean aware, educated, informed, talented, color savvy. I 💯 want to take class from you. I seriously need some finite, psychotically detailed perspective on porosity. Porosity may well come from combinations and throwbacks of family genetics but you cannot even predict someone's porosity from what mom and dad's DNA is. It is so specific to each human. It's fascinating, but sometimes frustrating trying to get especially low porosity to produce the desired outcome, primarily moisture retention of course. Natural, scrunch, twist sets, blow and press ALL come together with proper hydration.. But I mean breaking the code on a person's hair with a cuticle like a steel trap is like a miracle lol.. And you're killing it. I feel like I'm right on the edge of putting science to mechanics but I need some Travelle Vibranium, Hogwarts graduate schooling. Lol. Bring it!

Also how do you feel about ceramic and titanium irons when working with natural hair, like which do you prefer? And what do you think about silk wrapping hair with plastic wrap after the press?

Hi! I don’t mind answering at all! For deep conditioning it all depends on what I’m using. Lately I’ve leaned more towards my steamer in most cases. I just love the fact that i get to hydrate alongside whatever I’m using. For some low porosity hair i will do a combination, 10 minutes under the dryer with a cap(because the heat is stronger) then follow up with 5 minutes under my nano steamer. There’s no right or wrong way. Depends on the hair. For flat irons, i have both but i prefer ceramic. Titanium is a beast and does offer a super smooth press but a lot of my guests go back and forth between straight and natural styles and ceramic is gentler on the hair, meaning less opportunity for heat damage. Sometimes when I’m finished i do wrap under a plastic cap for 5-7 minutes under a cool dryer. The shine ✨ is on 10 after that lol

When you’re analyzing the hair how do you determine if someone has high regular or low porosity hair? My passion is to do hair and I’m not yet in cosmetology school so I wanted to ask you since you’re so educated

I assume the way hair absorves products and water. - Low porosity hair takes some time to get wet, high porosity hair gets wet easily; - When you apply creams/styling products if it sits on top of the hair that's low porosity.* If the hair absorves it then it is high porosity. *note: let's say you use styling products with non water soluble sillicones (dimethicone, cyclomethicone, etc) they will leave a barrier on your hair. So when you wash it, leather and whatnot, you have to use a sulfate base shampoo to get rid of the buildup. Wash it twice, target the scalp, massage it with your finger pads and use it on your hair length. The second time, use a moisturizing shampoo since the sulfate shampoo strips your hair. Sometimes are hair might have a higher porosity but since it has product buildup it'll act as a low porosity hair. Hope that helps.
