Just a note that Zoot Money who played Lotterby, who pours the curry powder into the cauldron, passed away couple of weeks ago. He was a musician and a bit part actor.

R.i.p. zoot money. He played the part of lotterby in the film version of porridge in the late 1970s. He has gone to the rest home for actors in the sky.

One of the best sitcoms ever beats today's rubbish

Do we have sitcoms nowadays? I think they removed the 'com' part several years ago. Apart from a few odd exceptions today's so called comedians are about as funny as a house brick. Laugh, I thought I'd never start.

What utter rubbish, if you were alive in the 70s you must have had your heads in the sand. Society was even more bolshie than it is now, that's why you got good comedy. A lot of teachers were Marxists in the 70s, Thatcher got rid of them.

It’s still funny how he tries to peddle the bike away and it falls to pieces. Even better that he leaves it and walks away as if nothing happened.
