In 1967 bought 3 year old low mileage clean 1964 SC, still my favorite car 56 years later after spending millions on some great cars

I grew up in the 1960's and had a 1953 and 1961 Porsche 356. Then they were all hand built unibody cars where only the doors, decklid and hood bolted onto the body. They never had a rattle, even 60 years later. These German cars do have a nostalgic scent to them which evokes fond memories of all the fun I had with them back in the day. I still love the classic styling and the feeling of driving a go cart that can turn on a dime. This amazing feeling was also only shared with the Porsche 914 which fitted with a bored out 4 cylinder or 911 engine was the ultimate refinement of excitement in an air cooled Porsche. I have had a lot of Porsches over the years and still have a 914, 968 and Boxster S. My favorite for a long drive is the 968 or the Boxster S. But for the most fun driving on the twisties I so much prefer the 914. At age 72, I am so glad I grew up with all these amazing cars and glad to still have 3 of them in my garage. Back in the day, I also had a 1965 Corvette convertible with a 350 engine and 325 hp. Lots of performance but it was like driving a truck and Harley Davidson at the same time. Everything shook and rattled from the door glass to the side pipes. I never really liked anything about that car except the styling. Afterwards, I never owned another vette.

If you’re smelling gas, you might need to replace the gas line in front, under the dash. It’s a common source of gas smells inside the cabin. We’ve had our ‘64 SC sunroof coupe for 55 years.

I rebuilt all 4 carbs on my 81 Honda CB750. It’s not that difficult, just find a mentor before you begin!
