First off the junk thing is a cliche and something people just say usually outta jealousy. Secondly, people gravitate to what’s popular. Right now, McLaren and lambos are popular. Thirdly, folks with these cars will attempt to gate keep events which in turn makes guys like me want to switch cars in order to not constantly have to fight to be featured in events… if you’re not a part of any of these communities you won’t understand.

I’m on my 6th Porsche atm. Currently in a 718 Spyder. I had considered a 458, 570S, and a hurracan over my Spyder but I am very glad I didn’t go for them. The Spyder actually drives better and personally, everyone knows what I have. I’ve received compliments from Ferrari and McLaren drivers. I will be frank. This car isn’t for you. This is like you said, a pure drivers car. It’s not for someone who wants to just showcase that “they’ve made it” despite the irony that it’s not exactly a cheap car. My honest advice, stick with the car and actually try to improve your driving abilities. This car is easily one of the best cars to improve your driving skills. The only car that is probably better than this car is a 991.2 GT3. I’m sorry but lambos and Ferraris bar the F12, 812 and 458, are all meh to drive. Nothing special and honestly, you crave getting back into the Spyder. I would replace my Spyder without any reluctance for only the Spyder RS. Even the 991.2 GT3 wouldn’t entirely convince me. Go to an auto cross and learn the limits of your car. You’d really second guess everything you just said.

I got my car right around the time you got yours. I’m a little bit older, and I can afford just about anything, but this car is so exciting to drive. Like you said, attorneys do like Porsches and Ferraris. What in your opinion, what is more exciting than the 718 spider? How does it compare to the F8 spyder or Performante spyder from an excitement perspective outside of the flash? Not buy McLaren because of reliability.

Imho porsches are the wrong car to buy for clout. The design language is so similar that only people who know porsche can tell the models apart. Tbh, i think you are saying the quiet part out loud. Automotive youtubers have to think what their audience want to see but at the same time, audiences dont want to hear that. They want to see someone who loves cars. What ive seen is that people chase the dream, the love for their cars is worn on their shoulder, then 50k followers later they are like - whoa I need to think different. Not at the Lambos which are a dime a dozen. BUT, as a Spyder, I thought this was pretty damn funny. I also thought “This thing holds its value like motherfucker!!”….haha! That is no doubt. It is like a savings account….and in the not so distant future, likely an investment account.

I'm not sure what your goal for content followers etc are, and no judgement here, but as a general opinion I think a video like this will get you more views, but maybe not as many followers as you might expect. And I mean that constructively. This video most likely attracted real car people looking for real car feedback. Outside of the Alcantara (now called Race Tex) comment, none of these were really related to the car, but rather the perception of your car in very specific circles. Again, totally my opinion, but it's probably better to add something in the video title that ties your opinion to the fact that it is relative to clout and not empirical data. Because in that sense, to say Porsche (or Ferrari for that matter) is no longer relevant is just not accurate. There is a reason the 911 has been around for 60 years now. There is a reason there are 20 something trim levels for the 911 from the base model to the GT3RS, GT2RS, Turbo S etc. Full disclosure I'm very biased here, I have a paint to sample Nato Olive 922.1 911 GTS and a paint to sample Bahama Yellow Spyder RS on the way as well. So clearly I am a Porsche person, and I'm not offended by your video at all. But I also think it's most likely people like me that see this title, but after watching the video (I watched the entirety), have basically found it to be click bait. I don't know the comp structure of youtube, and if my view helps you get some funds towards the Lamborghini, that's great, I hope you get it if that's what is the car that helps the equation you needs to personally achieve success and be happy. I love Lamborghini as well and almost took one over the 2 Porsches. But I didn't because personally, for me, Porsche is a better driver's car. I've had a few lesser powered Porsches as well and found those to be unbelievable. But after the long-winded reply here, my summary would be that I came here to see if there were any comments or thoughts on annoying mechanical things about the car, mechanical issues, depreciation issues when selling, rattles in the wheels etc. And I bet a lot of other people did too. You're probably going to do better just finding a way to get the Lamborghini and make videos with that if that's' what your data tells you, rather than posting this title and alienating actual car people looking for a factual opinion directly related to vehicle issues and dynamics. Best of luck though and I'd recommend a good giallo or verde on the Lambo.

I owned 911 4S and just traded in for 718 Spyder. Its definitely upgrade in driving dynamics. Its little cramped inside but other than that its perfect weekend car. I was crossshopping lambo gallardo, audi R8, 458, 360 etc for around $150k. Porsche was one that i had most fun and plus its most reliable in the sub $150k lineup. No regret. Also it was one of car that held its value. Used 718 spyders are still around MSRP from 4 years ago(due to discontinued and spyder RS is over $200k with markup). Next up is GT3 if i get bored with spyder and have fund available(no finance here). Btw get aftermarket exhaust or do valve mod to have exhaust fully open(loud and pops).

@@ScottLeonardI am in the Houston area and we have a pretty live car scene. I do one particular show and they have all different categories. One category is the “Dirty Dozen”. They put the most special cars in that dozen. Guess which one got included? Yep you guessed it. Right up there with the Lambos and Ferraris. And it got most of the attention because of your reason number one. It is a special car. It is a rare car. And it is a pretty car. And while I do like the crazy wrap(isn’t that a song) on your car, I think it does cheapen the car and takes away from the beautify and curviness of the car. Anyway, I understand what you are trying to do. I’m not mad it you. I just ain’t you! I would say just be straight forward and honest about the characteristics of the car and you will get subscribers. ANd yes production quality does matter. Yours isn’t bad but nothing special. Look what Throttle House puts out…excellent production and excellent car related content. And yeah, that is not what you’re interested in which kinda sucks….but keep on doing what you’re doing if you think it will reach your goal. You will attract Ballers and not care enthusiasts. The spyder is one of the best porche of the last 20 years, it is the same as the gt4 which again is one of the best drives you can buy. @ScottLeonard I think the problem is in America they advertise or its said to be a boxster spyder. Where in Europe its just the spyder. So when you look into it here, the first thing you read that it's a soft top gt4. In America they instantly say its a fancy boxster basicly, which does draw one parallel and only one that its missing a roof. So it's either bad press or ignorance, either way. I agree with you on the "if you want to be noticed as a creater or for cred" debate. But again lambo's are not the best car, pretty badly made except for the decent engine, which is cool bit not great. An a mclaren are smart but like they say smart brakes "allot" lol I've driven all, but not the highest end of each brand, but if it were me and money was no object (not car price but to maintain), porshe daily, maclaren weekend treat and lambo broken being fixed
