Just had a spring oil change and the same thing happened to me. This saved a trip to the dealer...a BIG Thank You. Now my 911S is already to go for the season.

Wow!!! I can't believe that this video has only been up since this morning and already helped someone. I'm thrilled!!!

Im a fan of your thoughtful approach to solving issues. Gutsy of you to tackle these tasks. These are helpful and entertaining and good brain exercises. Ever had video on AC issues? My 2024 S works well in Phx when rpms are up and constant. Reduces to hot air when at stop light for full Red and rpms at idle. Keep them coming!

Do you have one that you recommend?

Hello Dave, Thank you very much for your videos! What do you think about changing the oil in the 911 transmission box? At the Porsche dealership they tell me that the PDK transmission box is maintenance free!! I have a Porsche 911 4s -991.1- year 2014 with 33,000 miles and the PDK works very well, do you recommend changing the oil or is it not necessary yet? Thank you very much for your answer, it will surely give me more certainty than the Porsche agency, Maueo

I’m no expert on PDK fluid. I’d check the owners manual for your specific car and follow their recommendations AT MINIMUM. Anything fluid related I would the frequency they recommend. For instance, they recommend every 10m miles for engine oil replacement. I do mine every 5k or so. Some people say that’s overkill. For me it’s a small price to pay for a little extra peace of mind.

Why not just have a cable for the front lid and engine lid like the air cools? More electrickery to give trouble.

IDK man, this is why idk if Ill ever buy a 991 or beyond car without a lease and a warranty! There's no engine lid, Porsche sold out at this point man :/

Great video. Why can't the emergency cable be extended with another wire connected to the silver ball and run it under the spoiler mounting bracket so it is easily reached? I plan on trying doing this. Same thing in the front. Extend the frunk release through the front wheel well liner so it can be reached without removing the tire. Porsche poor design.

Advance to 9:37 in the video when you can see I made a temporary extension with some white nylon coated electrical wire. Then again, a slightly different solution at 12:22 using a zip-tie which was somebody else's idea but because it's a black zip tie it blends in nicely and hides easily. The important thing to note is that you simply can't have whatever extension you make coming out any direction and expect to be able to just pull it to release the latch. You need to be able to pull the cable straight upward to release the latch. If you try to pull it sideways, you could slice through the rubber boot that the cable is threaded through and potentially render the cable-release inoperable. You will have to be able to reach something back there (like a long needle-nose plier) to grab the cable and pull it upward. The benefit of extending it will be simply to locate the cable and position it into the plier. I also like the idea of doing something for the frunk as you suggested and will probably make some time to do it too.
