I remember watching testing and the actual race. The bare carbon/Aramid cars during testing were boss compared to the competition!!

Definitely the most brutal-looking and the most beautiful-looking (simultaneously) racer Porsche has ever come up with. 993 GT1 (1996) , and 996 GT1 (1997) looked best, the 1998 996 GT1 looked more like a prototype (closed cockpit LMP), than a GT1 racer, I did not like the 1998 996 GT1 as much as the previous year ones, even though it was faster or quicker around the lap. The GT1 racers from 1995 to 1997 were probably some of the best looking racing machines ever to exist on a racetrack. Great footage, I appreciate it! Thanks!

um, no. Certainly you are the first ive ever heard to express sentiment such as this, the 1998 version, apart from actually winning the 24 hours, looks far, far better aesthetically in every way than the previous iteration. and I would be willing to bet that nearly every single true Porsche enthusiast would probably have the 996 GT1 vehicle near at the bottom of their list for most beautiful, or brutal, or accomplished, etc. anything..... get a clue.

One of the street versions sold here in America recently...I think it went for $3 big ones...or maybe it was $5...I seem to remember them saying it was one of only 3 in America.

So you are quoting a weight on a car that is not even in this vid. The GT1-98 is a different car. The one in this vid is is the 993 GT1, not the 996 which is the GT1-98.
@festol111 жыл бұрын
This is not journalism. 1997 the GT1 was won by McLarens F1 again. And 1998 the GT1 that won was a 996 GT1.

***** For example Helmut Marko ist not german, he is an austrian. The narrator says that the 956 had a flat (crank) engine, but in fact it had a boxer engine.
