I'm surprised there were no cracks between the spark plug hole and the valve seats. Isn't that a common problem with 912 heads?

Yes quite often these heads will crack between spark plug holes and the intake seats. Luckily it was not the case on this set of heads. Kurt

Kurt where would you rate the 3.2L among all of the air cooled Porsche engines?

I like them. They are the truly last of that design and Porsche had pretty much figured out most of the issues by then. The engines are reliable and preform well Kurt
