Hi, for the size of the drill I can look, should have been around 4-5 mm. The size of the extractor is easy to find, when you know the diameter of the hole. Just the size where the middle diameter is the diameter of the hole. Greetings, Jürgen

Thanks so much for your response. My 17 year old son actually came up with another solution: Dremel a slot on the end of the shear bolt that is near the instrument cluster and use a short flat head screw driver to back it out. It worked like a charm. My son is so smart!Thanks so much for all your videos. They have provided us with tons of help to restore our 1997 944 Turbo. Also, whenever I start to get frustrated I just think of your eternal positive attitude and that we should be having fun, no matter how difficult the situation. After all, it's just a car. It's not about the destination but the journey. Thanks again.

Super Video! Kann man auch erst mal ohne Ausbau versuchen, mit WD40 oder Silikonspray den klemmenden Riegel von außen zu schmieren? Einmal konnte ich das Schloss einrasten - aber jetzt klackt es nur ein wenig, wenn ich das Lenkrad drehe... Danke!

wenn ich mal einen 944 habe wo das Schloss nicht einrastet weiss ich schonmal wie es geht :-) gutes Video ist auch übertragbar auf viele andere Schlösser (habe sowas ähnliches mal am Zweirad gemacht)

+steffo2oo2 Hallo, ich hatte dieses Problem bisher nur am 944. Dort ist es aber sehr häufig, wie unzählige Threads zu dem Thema zeigen. Vielen 944 wurde deshalb auch der TÜV verweigert. Viele Grüße, Jürgen

Mein 944 hat das Lenkrad in Sperrstellung. Ich habe den Schlüssel verloren, ich bin den ganzen Weg hinunter zur Zündung gegangen, um ihn herauszunehmen, laut Ihrem Video, und ich kann ihn nicht dazu bringen, einfach abzuspringen, gibt es etwas anderes, was ich damit machen muss?

I sure hope the early (series 1) cars are easier to work on than yours. I don't see why it should be necessary to dismantle so much just to get at the steering column lock assembly. Does anyone at Porsche work on the cars they've designed?

joker7from206 I am not sure for the early model, but usually such parts are interchangeable. My S2 has the same steering wheel like the 928 and the 911 G. Regards, Jürgen

That is a lot of work. Couldn’t you have dropped the lower dash knee bolster and pulled the lock cylinder out of its housing and sprayed lubricant into the housing where the lock cylinder was located first to avoid tearing up the dash and removing the lock cylinder housing? Seems like a long way around just to get lubricant into the lock mechanism to free up the steering wheel lock.

Hi, to remove the lock cylinder you must even drill a hole in the housiing and the cylinder housing is part of large housing. It's not removable. Greetings, Jürgen
