Thank you for posting a very clear video describing the steps to seal the holes in both doors. One thing I found helpful, based on your video, is the length of the radio and the a/c-heater control panels cables allowed me to located a standard size carton (16" x 12' x6") in front of the passenger seat, thereby not having to disconnect these cables and to reconnect the a/c-heater control cable when I moved to doors from "Hi" to "Lo" temperature settings.

Thanks for the great video! Just fixed my 2003 986 that has been blowing foam at my face for years! I’m so happy I did it and you’re right, it was very easy to do.

Thank you for posting this. Its been on my "to do" list for my 996 for a couple years. Its great having working heat again. For the guys posting that you can access this from the frunk, if you've done this job you know that only gets you access to one of the blend doors (hot cold temperature mix). The other blend door splits the flow for upper, center, lower vents and can only be accessed by either cutting or dash removal.

Thanks for explaining plugging the climate in to move the doors, same layout as on mine. I Feel brave enough to go ahead and do this now.

Just looked at a boxster with cool heat. I was worried but now that I'm 99% sure this is the problem I'm happy. Again love the excellent videos

Isn't it cool when you learn that things you think are problems, aren't really that big of a deal. I'm learning as I go just like most of you guys, and the feeling of accomplishment is such an addictive high. I really wish I had started restoring cars when I was in my 20's. I could of had a rewarding career. Of course by now I would probably be tired of it (lol). Thanks for watching

Thanks for the video! I just finished this on my 996 turbo. I was wondering where all that foam was coming from

There is a new method of going in through the top in your frunk that doesn't involve cutting your vent open. Using that method you can actually remove one "blend door" and get better access to the A/C unit.
@BillYovino Жыл бұрын
Going thru the frunk only gives you access to one of the two doors.

Just remember those a lot I guess if you put a glass window and you don’t have to worry about it but if you have the original Boxster type of plastic window and you put the top down in the winter time it folds and it’ll crack I just put a new top after watching your video I don’t know if the new ones do that but I still went with the original plastic type

There's actually a better way to do this without cutting the heck out of the vent system or the heater box itself.

If you have a link to it I would love to learn how incase I ever get another one of these cars. Thanks for watching, and the comment.
Gomez video is right. You go in through the heater core opening below the front cowling and battery. Better access and you can remove the main flap and vacuum out the a/c module.

I don't see a way to link to it, but on Amazon it's a 120 piece trim removal tool kit $25.99

Is that a cup holder I see?
@jasonsporschechannel9452 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's fairly cheap from Amazon (I think around $20.00). Holds a drink and my phone. It slides between the seat and console, but sat at an angle, so I had to wedge a small strip of foam underneath to make it stand up straight. The fake leather matches the seats, but is now coming unglued from the plastic. So it's probably not the best, but it has worked for a couple years now. Thanks for watching

Thanks for posting your DIY, my vents are starting to fill up with the foam themselves, so this will be on my list of "To Do". I utilized your video for my struts this past weekend! @Robert King Link or GTFO 😛
