Hi all, just to clarify, much of the filming was done on an unusual bit of road that has two lanes going up and one lane going down, separated by the double solid white line. No overtakes were done in this video and the car is driven on the correct side of the road throughout!

Excellent review. I’ve owned a 2011 Turbo S for nearly 3 years and your observations were refreshingly accurate. With so much social media airtime on GT products, these cars are misrepresented and misunderstood by most people.

Yes the hype around GT products has absolutely overshadowed the rest of the range! They are undoubtedly great but I think many have forgotten how fantastic the 911 itself is - its inherent qualities lend itself very well to the die-hard enthusiast and the Carrera, Turbo and other variants are all absolutely fantastic

@@shootingbrake These reached the bottom of their depreciation around 4 or so years ago, and since seem to have sat at 55-65% of MSRP for a good condition/mileage. These are such good super sports cars for the road, the lack of appreciation is crazy to me. Sometime in the future their day will come!!

I’ve watched this video I think a dozen times. I’m about to pull the trigger on a high mileage 997.2 Turbo S. You do an excellent job describing the chassis feel, steering feel, the balance of the car. Before I test drove the one I’m looking at, I was convinced that I would not like the PDK, as I was pretty much only looking for manuals. I was wrong - it pairs delightfully well with this rocket. Yeah, of course it won’t be the most engaging thing compared to a manual, but it does its job very well when you want it to and play with the paddles and such. What I’m saying was after the test drive, your video was the thing that put a lot of my thoughts to words.

@@JustMeinKZbin I did! I had it inspected just after commenting here and it came up very clean for a high mileage car. I gave it another test drive and that was all I needed. Definitely miss my old car from time to time (it was a manual NC generation Miata, so quite the leap), but the Turbo S definitely is keeping me entertained. Hope to hang onto this one for a while.

The 997 Turbo is the best sports car ever made! I had a 996 Turbo stick which I liked a lot and now a 997.1 Turbo Tiptronic which I Love for so many more reasons. Nice video. Cheers

I think PDK is essential on a 997 turbo...a 996 turbo is slightly less mental and you can drive manual pretty well..looks gorgeous in white

I have a gen 2 turbo, unfortunately not the S but I’ve had it just over 9yrs and wow, what a car. I wanted the pdk box and my no 1 colour choice was meteor grey. It fell right into my lap without looking and I still can’t believe how lucky I was. I’ve thought about upgrading many times but believe I’ll regret it so it isn’t going anywhere soon. Happy owner. 👌

Not sure why this was badged as a Turbo S however the badge was removed prior to the sale of the car. Definitely no need to up-badge a turbo!

Christ you were driving on the wrong side of the road !! You made that other car brake and pull in ... or was it an uphill dual carriage way with a tiny downhill lane.?? the downhill lane looks like a cycle lane...wierd

There are two lanes going up and one lane going down, separated by the solid double yellow. The second lane is an overtaking lane, like a dual carriageway without the separating barrier.

Hi! For what it's worth I always make sure to strike a balance between exploring a car's characteristics during a review (In order to gain an honest and accurate understanding) and ensuring mechanical sympathy, care and dilligence at all times. Most of this video was spent in the 997.2 Turbo's ample partial-throttle mid-range and filming was wrapped up after about half an hour. We came nowhere close to pushing the car's limits, mechanically or otherwise, however the incredible breadth of ability of the Turbo makes for dramatic looking footage regardless. Wide open throttle moments can rarely be enjoyed for more than a few seconds on UK roads in such a car! Like everything we list, this example is lovely and mechanically sound, and the video reviews are both an illustration of what the models are like to drive but also a statement of confidence in the examples we sell, which are always ready to be driven away and enjoyed as intended.
