Porsche Bosch DME Proper Chip Replacement

Hi Sal. This is Willy. Thanks for the concise tutorial. Is this video tutorial same for a Porsche 964 (1991?)? I ask because in 911chips.com instructions they show an additional process in which we have to play with the connector to detach the board from the connector before sliding it out and flipping it. I was wondering if that is really necessary as it doesn't appear to be so in your video.

How do I get the chip and injector package? DO you have a website?

Thanks for the demo Sal. I can't wait to get my chip from you. Similar to previous question, do you disconnect battery prior to removing DME from car?

Tim, No need to disconnect battery, just be sure the key is out of ignition. With the key out the DME relay is not active and the DME has no power.

Sal, do you have to worry about static discharge damaging the board components? Wondeingr if a wrist ground strap is necessary?

+Tim Archer Tim, You certainly could wear a static strap but in all the DME work I've done I never had a static issue. These DMEs are very robust and most logic chips in them are basic bi-polar robust chips not the static sensitive CMOS.
