I had a 991.1 with a SureGuard extended warranty, when I used it a my local Porsche dealer, they were very familiar with them and it was smooth and painless repair claim. Additionally, when I was hunting for a 911 last year, I spoke with multiple dealers across the county and found out that they don't all use the same extended warranty provider. So not a problem, but as the guys said, it doesn't hurt to ask your local dealer who they use or have positive experiences with. The 911 that I eventually purchased last year, I bought an extended warranty through Fidelity.

Agreed on getting a PPI on a CPO. I did that on my 2012 Cayman S 7 years ago. The independent shop who performed the PPI found a scratch on the lower rear bumper which wasn't disclosed by the dealer. That allowed me to negotiate -$2K less than the going price. Typical PPI only costs $300. Well worth the money regardless of CPO status. Think of a PPI as pre-purchase insurance.

Great podcast. I recently bought a CPO 991 (aqua blue metallic aerokit cup!!) *and* own an 86 944 Turbo and love the Turbo Cup cars ... so lots for me to love in this episode. I noticed there was just that one Turbo Cup at Rennsport and there were also ***no*** early offset 86 944 Turbos (aka w Fuchs) there that I saw. Keep em coming !

The car I turned into a "faux cup" is an 86 :) Phone dial car originally that we had redone in white!

I can't thank you enough for the topic coverage. I've been looking at 2020 Taycans and they are within the last year of their original warranty. The wide selection of Taycans that are non-CPO is much greater than those that are CPO. I'm in a situation where I have narrowed my choices down to two cars. A 2020 4S that's CPO with 47K miles and less options. And a Non-CPO with 12K miles and more options. Both are asking roughly the same price. In the world of EVs does a CPO vs Extended Warranty ultimately make a difference? And is a high mile CPO a better deal than a low mileage non-CPO as long as the cars look clean?

Timely, looking at a Taycan CT and the dealer wouldn’t CPO it unless I paid for it?! Never heard of this before on a reasonably new Porsche. Won’t be dealing with that dealer. With my Macan my dealer told me the CPO was coming up and I can extend it if I want.

Great episode. I if there is a follow up to this episode can you discuss what is and is not covered in the CPO? Especially suspension components, since is PSAM is in more an more cars. I got wheel and tire from AAA, its through Smartautocare, it was about 1K for 5 years. I used it once thanks to a spectacular pothole and the process was really easy had the tire replaced and the wheel refinished. Thanks again for a nice episode.

Good call on the Motocompacto, Vu! I wrapped mine in a very close match to the Python Green on my GT4. It'll be my pit bike at autocrosses this year! It fits nicely in the rear trunk, and technically fits in the frink also, but I'd be worried about denting the hood from the inside

I can't recall and have no way to find it in the podcast, but was it mentioned that all PCar dealer sell extended warranties are JM&A warranties? Or, is it dealer specific?

I own a 2007 997.1 Turbo with HRE three-piece wheels and Michelin PS4s. I purchased the car through the PCA Marketplace from a PCA member. I would like to investigate wheel and tire insurance, but that is not as easy as one might think. Obviously, I am not eligible for Porsche dealership insurance. I went to the Fidenity website and learned it is dedicated to dealing with claims. There are no options offered to get a quote or make a purchase. Is this coverage that I can only get through an insurance broker? Any suggestions as to who I can call? Thanks

Fidelity is an excellent warranty. However I do not believe that they cover "associated" failures. Specifically - the 9Y0 Cayenne can experience a water pump failure. In some cases, when the water pump fails, coolant leaks into the vacuum system of the car and creates additional damage. A Porsche CPO warranty will cover the entire repair. Fidelity will cover the water pump failure, but not the associated damage to the vacuum system (which is the more expensive repair.) Something to keep in mind when evaluating the benefit of CPO over aftermarket warranties.

I also agree about PPI on a CPO. I had a similar experience to @DC5Brandon. Almost the same situation EXCEPT, I didn't have it inspected. So, I'm stuck with significant paint damage that likely wasn't even detected by the tech doing the CPO inspection. It certainly wasn't disclosed.

I listen in Apple Podcast app and please would you guys balance your audio. Every episode someone is to quiet, someone is to loud and it makes listening very difficult. It’s not difficult to balance audio either through an app or on your recording software on a laptop. It seems like a good podcast but it’s just too hard to deal with the audio levels
