Use clear tube so you can see the air bubbles to bleed the every line so you don't mess-up things

Thank you for the series of videos. Even though I am not doing this project, it was very educational. At least I'll be able to understand what the mechanic tells me when he does the job.

I really love this video series. And I appreciate that you haven't edited out your mistakes so the rest of us to learn from them. Thank you! Also, I notice you have a Moto360. I'm terrified to wear mine while working on the car for fear of scratching or breaking the screen. Do you have a screen protector, or are you just YOLOing it?

Great series,I enjoy all your offerings. I changed spark plugs on my 2009 cayman To access the sparks it was recommended the O2 sensors be taken off.When reattaching the O2 sensors the cable became corkscrewed.finding where the electrical cable snaps in is a problem.I don't like how the cable is overly tightened.Any forth coming video's.I know changing sparks is pretty light weight stuff compared to transmission work but any suggestion would probably help.Up here in Vancouver B C.

Ah, I wish I had a video for this. If you can't trace the wire back to the connector, another option might be to take the O2 sensor when it is removed and twist it anticlockwise (like you're removing it). You should then be able to install the sensor with the wire twisted. As you thread the sensor in, you will take out the twists you made. Hope this helps. Good luck! (And we are practically neighbors by the way!)

I really appreciate the IMS videos. My question concerns bleeding the brake fluid, as I replaced the clutch slave cylinder. It appears in your video that the clutch pedal is not depressed at any time while the fluid bleeding is being conducted, but that the clutch was depressed only after closing the bleed screw, and before the next attempt at bleeding the fluid. I saw another video that said the clutch pedal needs to be depressed while the bleeding process occurs. Can the process be done either way? Thank you in advance for your response. Joe Lima

Hey I just wanted to let you know that I have learned a lot by watching your series. I am currently having to deal with all those issues myself on my Porsche 986 and was thinking of tackling on the projects myself as oppose to taking it somewhere and be charged an arm and a leg. Thanks again for all of your helpful detailed videos you post they are very much appreciated. One question how high do you have your car jacked up in order to really get in there and work on it like you do in your videos? Thanks for your time.

Hi Omar, Glad you're finding them useful. I really like working on the 986. I've definitely saved a great deal of money! Most of the projects really just require you to have it up high enough to get under the car. The IMS project was the biggest project, and I had to get the car up around 16-17 inches I think... I don't remember the exact height, but it's in one of those vids. The important thing to remember is to use good jack stands and make sure everything is safe. I like to put a few bricks or blocks under the car for added insurance.

Make sure transmission is in neutral before you attempt to slide it in:)

Great job any tips on getting the trany to align it looked like a struggle getting it back on.
@BurnersCars8 жыл бұрын
It was definitely a struggle. I made sure the bolt holes were aligned, then I felt around to see that the gap between the engine and trans was roughly the same... This told me to move it up / down or side to side as needed. It was pretty easy to get it to within about a half inch of the engine block, but that last bit was a challenge!

Don't forget, you need to drive it 10 miles, then go back in and re-torque those clutch disc bolts . . . . just kidding.
