hi why do you need to connect a 12v battery again before start working on the car?

You do have to register the battery or the alternator will overcharge the battery, changing the charging parameters.

Thanks for the info. I was not aware that registering the battery was “a thing” on these! That said, it looks like by selecting a battery that is same or similar to the one in there (as I did with the codes at front of video), and ensuring you provide continuous full power to the car during the change (as I did), one can swap out without registering. It may provide slightly less optimum charging or whatever as you allude to, but I can’t imagine it will make much of a difference in the grand scheme. Here is a good discussion on the topic. Next time I need to hook up OBD I’ll see if there is a battery register option and comment back here, but for folks performing this DIY, just know that I have had no problems so far, and the auto-stop did start working again after the replacement! rennlist.com/forums/macan/1318569-battery-registration-necessary.html
