Super useful video. Thanks a ton! Quick additional notes though for other viewers is that the reason he directs you to heat the BACK of the wheel is that the hard plastic clips of the fascia are actually located in a rubber compound, so you're softening that compound to release the clips, rather than trying to soften the plastic of the fascia to prevent cracking. I misunderstood that from the video, and figured it might help others. Also, the actual switches that you see the person in the video pressing on to release the fascia will actually come off with the fascia - you're not trying to seperate the fascia from the switch, but rather the switch and fascia from the wheel (visible if you look carefully at the back of the switch, but I missed it). #6 TORX to remove the back of the switch and #9 TORX to remove the plastic shroud to get access to the wiring.

Thanks so much!! Followed your video and it made swapping a new steering wheel on while retaining my old steering wheel control buttons. Warming things up to make more pliable is a must, but it all was very easy. By the way... #6 TORX head bit. Had to pick one up before hand. These are not common bits. Had to buy a special micro tool kit, but can be found at home depot.

Excellent video btw. I need to change my thumb side gear switch, can i change it just by removing the silver bits or do i have to remove the whole triangle part like you did? Tia.
