When you consider how empty Newfoundland is, and all the open space around the town, why is every house abutting their neighbour's and why are there little or no back yards? It's high density living when it's not necessary. I'd feel claustrophobic living there.

Who knows what they were thinking all those years ago when they built the homes. As we travel around the island, the newer homes are at a more comfortable distance from each other! Thanks for watching!

@@OurRetiredLife After reflecting on it, my guess is that it reveals a long gone era where your neighbours were your friends and the town was one big family. It was before anyone had TV and people played music and games for entertainment and everyone's door was open to guests. I can imagine people in those old houses sitting around an old radio straining to listen to wartime newscasts through bursts of static, and when someone died the whole town would come out to morn the loss.
