The display of wooden boat building attendance shows that fine craftsmanship I our mass-produced world is still a draw card. David Leg's kayaks are sublime!!!! What absolute mastery of the medium - they are (almost) too good to use and should be preserved for the future. Tally Ho and Leo with his crew are a phenomenon that proves crafting skill is something that speaks to your heart. Great boat, great guy and amazing crew all add up to more than the parts of what it is. Port Townsend is on my bucket list and much closer from Portugal from where I recently immigrated to in South Africa. Must save my penny's!! Great video guys!!

Seeing the huge line of people waiting to view Tally Ho, it's incredible to realise that this is only happening because a crazy guy called Leo didn't want to let a rotted boat hull become nothing more than history. Leo understood that it was so much more than just rotting wood and his genius is sharing the dream of restoring her with us through his channel. Every person in that queue wants to celebrate the day when Tally Ho sails again, as does every subscriber to his channel. Only two more (rolling) years to go! :)

Yes Doc, amazing story that took off.

@doczoff56552 жыл бұрын
@@danharding4794 Hi Dan, the 'two more years' is a joke started by Leo as that's been his rolling launch date since he started the restoration. In one of his KZbin episodes he explains that by always estimating the launch to be two 'years in the future', when he does finally launch he'll do so two years ahead of schedule.

I live on the North Shore of Oahu. I knew Lord Tally Ho who was from England, he was a WWII veteran that was captured by the Japanese, he said he was chained to the top of a submarine. He saw his fellow Naval soldiers die & be fed to the sharks. He also was a professional wrestler. He son Jimmy Blears was a friend of mine. He was a World Champion surfer, & was good friends with James Arness's son Rolf Arness, who was also a World Champion surfer a year or two after Jimmy. I watch the Samson Boat Company videos religiously. It's probably one of the most beautiful Channel Pilot Cutters I have ever seen, next to the Poly Agatha. I believe the Tally Ho is longer & bigger.

That's interesting...At 1:05 there is a shot of dinghies. Among them is an early National Solo (dark painted hull, varnished decks, guy with white shirt has his hand on it).These were designed by Jack Holt in the UK around 1960. Commonly home built from plans initially. Predominantly raced in the UK, with a few fleets in Holland and Australia. To my knowledge never raced in North America so surprised to see one there. Anyone know how it got there?
