You get a like right away just for the name of the boat! Awesome boat name. We named ours Hedgehog. Never thought of setting the bote up I the cockpit. We are very new launching our Porta Bote, we just got it a week ago and have yet to even bring it aboard the mothership.

Thanks. It's not hard, just a bit getting used to it. We keep it up 3 ways. Hoisted with the main halyard side by side for the night, Up and folded by the lifelines for short day trips. And up lashed to the cabin side on the side deck for multi day open water trips. ENOJY IT!

I have to commend you on your balance. I know polypropylene can be quite slippery on other surfaces. When you stepped into the Porta bote to put the spreader bar across, all I could see was myself slipping and ending up with the Porta bote on one side in the water of your sail boat and me in the water on the other side tangled up in the darn rope. Have a blessed day my friend.

How well does a Porta-Bote behave when towed behind e.g. a sailboat?

Nice work. YOu did some interetesting things with yours. I love my portaboat. it is the 10 ft model and I got it used so not too hard to open up. I sling mine from davits most of the time and only do assembly after storage. I hated the Black specs from the pads on the sides so I just took them out. Also covered the seats with a froor foam that does not get hot. I hated those hot black seats. Do you row yours much? I think mine rows really well and have not attached the motor in months.

You took the pads out? You do know that they are there for flotation and are the only things that will prevent the boat from sinking. right? Did you think that they were there just for decoration?

Which size Porta-Bote is this? What size is your sailboat? I got at 27 feet sailboat and am considering a Porta-Bote.

Our PB is an 8 Ft model and our boat is a Nor'Sea 27. You can see more of the PB and our use of it on our web site and in many of our videos. It tows just fine, about like any other dink.
