If your wanting to run one of these full time in a service van what is your best choice for battery wile the van is not running? I guess the gamble is between just using a marine battery that charges wile van runs, or a power station that transfers load to shore power when van runs and charges the battery with load off battery.

@@jeffstrains4014 Hello. Great question. If you’re using a regular service van, I would use the DC input known as cigarette lighter to run your fridge. When not running vehicle I would use a power station. You could probably get away with a 500 W bank, running fridge in Ecomode. But I would recommend spending the extra money for a 1000 watt. You’ll get more hours that way. Using a marine battery with an inverter is another option. There’s also the solar option. Hope that helped. Cheers

It's BOO-GHEE, not Boge. I just purchased the CRD45 two compartments, split top w / battery and cover, and it works great! It has the wheels and retractable handle which makes it easy to move. It's also capable of solar charging (battery only) which is nice, except the unit has to be off while charging, so how do you keep your food cold? Can someone answer that?

Sounds like a great cooler for your needs. This video is about more of a compact cooler that would fit in a van or smaller suv. Which is either powered through shore power or battery powered. I don’t run into the issue of having to charge with power sources. If your having to charge while boondocking, I would recommend a bigger 1000W battery bank and at least 200 watts of solar to keep from battery drain

@@KruisinKevin mine really isn’t that much bigger than yours. The reason I described it, is because I’m have a hard time finding any videos or reviews on the CRD45 w/split top. And none about the battery. The manual is very vague about the solar capability and as I stated only says to turn the unit OFF while charging the battery via solar. I’ve reached out to BougeRV but haven’t heard back from them. I guess I’ll return the battery since it isn’t able to be charged separate from the unit. I can’t turn off my full of food unit for 3-5 hours just to charge it.

@@mrs.c5471 Im not sure what you power set up is? If you’re not able to charge the battery while running 12v fridge, I would find a power station that can. You might need more solar to keep up with the charge. Or a generator.

@@KruisinKevin It has nothing to do with my power stations, it has to do with what the manufacturer states, which is: when charging the battery, they "advise" that the unit be turned OFF. And you can't charge the battery outside the unit, so what's the purpose of using a battery?

@@zydecoloco Hello. When away, Nothings really secured in a vehicle. Other than an alarm. Tinting widows help. Or I’ve seen people surround cooler with foam board. Which also helps with cooling
