its not the only portable repeater on the market. Even back in 2019 when this video was uploaded there were several manufactures of portable box repeaters that were waterproof and battery operated and solar powered as well.

Hi . Our company just bought one of these repeaters for the ski resort. It works so awesome ! Thanks to Glenn and his great crew for putting it together for us. Be nice if they were painted ORANGE, that way we could see it in the snow :-) No worries.... thanks again !

Must be crazy expensive since they don't advertise the price openly on the website. Instead, they want you to call them for pricing... When someone refuses to advertise their prices, always makes me leary because 9 out of 10 they are asking a lot.

Repeaters tend to be expensive beasts, anyway. And, VHF repeaters tend to be exponentially more expensive than UHF repeaters because of the cost of the duplexers involved. A six cavity VHF duplexer can easily run over $1000, while a six cavity UHF duplexer is typically $100-$200. Then, the radios themselves tend to be more expensive, if they're commercial grade. Without knowing the price of the repeater he showed in this video, I'm guessing a price of $1500-$2000. I will say, though, that if that unit does have a six cavity VHF duplexer in it, it's going to be a lower power unit with relatively poor isolation compared to full sized six cavity duplexers that would typically be twice the size of that ammo box, or larger.

I think this looks like a great product that could be extremely valuable for emergencies. The problem is the repeater frequency split. The Comprod VHF mobile duplexer, like probably all VHF mobile duplexers, requires at a 4.5 - 10 MHz separation between repeater transit and receive. This is is big problem for hams on VHF where the entire 2-meter band is just 4 MHz and the standard 600KHz splits (0.6 MHz) require large and expensive 4 or 6-can duplexers that are sensitive, fragile and problematic for portable use. I think the ARRL should consider petitioning the FCC for a few emergency frequencies above or below the 2-meter ham band that have the required frequency separation to enable small portable VHF repeaters. There are a few VHF tactical repeater channels with 5 and 8MHz splits in the NIFOG published by DHS/CISA that could be used with this VHF repeater but the NIFOG is for public safety interoperability in emergencies and generally requires FCC Part 90 type excepted radios and repeaters on these frequencies. Even DHS/CISA doesn't understand or doesn't care about the limitations of current duplexers when they assign repeater frequencies for emergencies. Of course on UHF, mobile duplexers easily handle 5 MHz splits and are inexpensive. And ham, commercial, and NIFOG UHF channels are all 5MHz splits.

Motorola has been making this kind of repeater for years and even more compact.they can also be operated on AC or DC power. They have been commonly used on speedways and drag strips Nationwide as well as during 9/11 and Katrina. Systems can be used in the repeater mode or as a base station/repeater. Good info though thanks.

Nice set up BUT....you can build an all in one containing the battery as well if you buy the proper high watt battery. All in one grab and go, you might not have time to go back and grab a battery , now design an all in one then you have a nice setup plus a solar panel link.

Why no price on the website? Why would there be individual quotes when they are enclosed pre-assembled products ? 🤔 should be very easy to post the prices or at the very least a range ? I can't stand companies that play secret squirrel with prices and you have to sacrifice your first born for a price .
