It looks like something out of a science fiction movie.
But the "portal" connecting Vilnius, Lithuania and Lublin, Poland is very real, and part of a competition by the government of Vilnius to promote tourism in the area.
Benediktas Gylys, the founder behind PORTAL, and residents of the two cities have been speaking to the BBC.

Yes,it's a great idea. Seeing people from the other city will make people feel closer to each other and less room for suspicion or anything negative. But I'd probably come up along the side of it and stick a sudden random disembodied arm of leg into the view.

They need to jump on this for sister cities and towns. Imagine being able to glance across at the place your town or city is promoting tourism between and seeing who's there. Then going there and glancing back on your holidays.

However, this kind of tourists can come from many different countries (Germany, Sweden etc). I think that families, couples, friends from England when on vacation abroad are okay

@@fulippuannaghiti1965 Yeah okay there are countries that are in debt more than us. Italy: 134,8% of GDP, France: 98,1% of GDP. Spain: 95,5% of GDP, etc... While Poland: 46,0% of GDP, and Lithuania: 36,3% of GDP. Our debts are not that bad as in Western Europe and probably will take minimum 70-90 years to get to that level, but even if it would happen faster, we'd still pay it.
