During our visit to @PortAventuraWorldTV we stayed at the Portaventura Hotel. Originally we were booked for the Hotel Caribe but a couple of weeks before travelling we had a message saying we had been moved to this hotel (and when on site we noticed Hotel Caribe was completely shut). We luckily didn't mind as this was a slight upgrade, and we haven't ever stayed on-site here before despite all of our many previous visits, so we were happy with the hotel and room we were given!
The hotel is LARGE - many many buildings all set out in a maze of Mediterranean style buildings, but all accessible through corridors from the main reception areas (with many lifts too) and various doors accessing the pool areas. The pool areas are again huge, and whilst not open when we were there as too cold, they looked beautiful and very much like resorts we have stayed at in the Caribbean.
Our room was large compared to the previous hotel we were staying in, with vaulted ceilings and a small balcony - unfortunately no balcony furniture so a slight deduction in points from us for this!
The app where you booked your meals (you need to book a slot for breakfast and dinner if you have it included in your package) was really easy to use, and we had no problems getting decent slots for our meals. One thing to note is that the meals are done in strict slots, so you need to turn up when it's yours and you have 40 mins - 1 hour TOTAL to retrieve your food from the buffet and eat it. This might seem a long time, but if you have young children who you need to physically accompany to the buffet, we were finding the adults had very little time to choose and eat a meal at a restful pace - we absolutely didn't even try to have multiple courses, so definitely didn't get our money's worth in the buffet, and it wasn't quite the relaxing atmosphere we had hoped for. That being said the restaurant was never full, and the food options were nice and plentiful.
We also liked the Express Pass vending machines in reception which offered a slight discount to hotel guests - very handy and quick to sort!
Parking was also included for free, though to note, it's a bit of a walk from the car park to reception, and then again onto your room if you're in one of the furthest like we were.
The hotel was super quiet at night, and we had a very restful sleep both nights we slept here! Would definitely stay here again whilst doing the parks (the quick access to the park was amazing!) and would also like to try other resorts on-site if this is the standard of all of them!
