The 4 allbums: Atemahakwe, Dónde los Ponis pastan, Moctezuma and Las Batallas are amazing; but Moctezuma has been for long, the best album from Porter. Its songs like Palapa, Huracancún, Huitzil; mix the ancients and ancestral sounds with contemporary sounds like electric drums, synthesizer, guitar effects. It make getting too much power to their music. Grande Porter & Thank you so much Frank for this reaction. I hope you make a video reaction from Dolphant - Caricaturas. There is a lot of deep meanings and representations on the video, aside of representing the Hummingbird's (Huitzil) Tale , it has a deep meaning on Mexican culture and origins, The phrase on the song "I don't know if you are from here or from here or there" is the basic existencial predicament of every Mexican, We are not from here nor from there, we were born from the clash of both, The girl on the water probably represents our Mestizo origins, our "mother", the dudes with the white masks are the Spaniard conquistadors , and the people on the animal masks are the original habitants of what we call Mexico now, the tall dudes with weird mask probably represents the ancient gods of the time, they are summoning Huitzil to aid their people, and in the end they free themselves (independence).

El video habla sobre la época de la conquista española en México, sobre todo en el proceso de evangelización y cambio de la religión mexihca por la religión católica, los niños corriendo con sus mascaras con lágrimas abundantes, aún los espiritus de los dioses antiguos tienen marcas de llanto, perseguidos por blancos barbados con escencia púrpura, al tocar el atecocoli (caracol) recuerdan su verdadera religión. Huitzil azul - colibrí azul - Huitzilopochtli (Colibri a la izquierda). Lo recuerdan y abrazan quien son en verdad, por eso la niña se quita y rechaza la máscara blanca y de cerdo que le habían impuesto, retomando su verdadero ser.

hey Frank. I am new here. Porter started in 2004, initially his sound was experimental, then in 2008 they changed their singer and focused on mixing traditional sounds with indie-pop. This song is from the Moctezuma album and talks about the conquest of Mexico. Huitzil means hummingbird in Nahuatl, and the song talks about the hunting / capture of indigenous people by the Spanish and how their lives were about to change and how they asked the god Huitzilopochtli to help them and give them strength.
