Most of you know Porter is really one of my favorite artists of all time. I was incredibly excited when "Get Your Wish" came out because it was 6 years coming since Worlds and my expectations were very high. I know many people including me wanted something reminiscent of Worlds 2, and although it was not that it really did exceed my expectations of being something new from Porter but still being Porter. Something Comforting I think speaks for itself in the title - this song is more reminiscent of older Porter with some of the synths but it still sounds completely new and progressive in terms of his sound. I never got this song ahead of time so when it came out Incept and I teamed up to create an on brand lyric video for this great track (that to be honest I needed a few listens to grow on me, but after 4-5 listens I knew that I really did thoroughly enjoy this track and it made me even more excited for Nurture in general). Hope you all enjoy!

dunno why, but porter’s music always clicks with me somehow. my personal explanation of the song is about my emotional exclusiveness and how i need support, but can’t trust anyone around me. but in the past few months i’ve been talking to some people about it and getting help because of this song, so listening to it is always nice
@woofcaptain82124 жыл бұрын
With context this song is so much better. Around 1:05 is the part that got porter out of a creative rut. He wrote it back in 2015 and was depressed, thinking he wasn't cut out to make music. Over the next 5 years he continued to learn about music production so he could turn this song into what he drempt it could be. This song was the first thing that comforted porter after his depression hit him. Just imagining that as you vo through the song makes it so much better in my opinion. You can feel what he was feeling in a way.

I used to not like Porter's music too much a few years ago. I simply thought that music was something to get jiggy with, and I really only liked Shelter and Flicker. But as I kept on listening to music and slowly started analyzing it, especially after wathcing Your Lie In April, now I find that his music too is full of mature, abstract expressions; ones that I was perhaps unable to understand earlier, but now fully reach me. He's really, really great at getting these feelings across, and this song is yet another prime example of his expertise. Bless the magnificent guy, may he keep his artistic sense till his last day.

It's really strange, I wasn't too into EDM pretty well And the first artist who brought me into EDM is exactly Porter. He gave me a completely new experience on music, like he can tell a whole novel story and complex emotions and twists by just making masterpiece and masterpiece, like how you guys said, "journey". I really enjoyed just by knowing him publishing music, and I personally thought about Virtual Self is basically a negative side of him taking all those pains and panics from couldn't squish a song. The way how his music sounds are always appreciating and many of his songs are basically clean, meaningful and cheerful, it's extremely hard to see such an artist could ever reach his highness. He's different, no, he's a unique artist... no, he is Porter Robinson.
@erin85134 жыл бұрын
porter does say in an interview that virtual self is his side project that was born from his struggle to make music tho!

This is a beautiful song. In my opinion its about overcoming depression or an addiction by reaching out to someone who needs to tell them something comforting. I've been depressed but it made it more worse when my dad passed away in January. It made me think of cutting more often and angry and school kinda made it worse to think positive but I'm slowly getting better. This song and Get Your Wish made me think it'll get better. Porter is an amazing artist anyway before Nuture. ❤❤❤
