Watching this live made me cry multiple times. My girlfriend, my bestfriend, we saw you together in New orleans in 2019. She passed away suddenly this February. I miss her every day. every single day. Your album came out in the following months and while I was so sad she wasn't able to hear it, it has helped me immensely. As someone who is experiencing the darkest time of their life by far, this album helped me cry, helped me remember, helped me survive another day, helped me breathe when i felt like i could not. Porter, Paiton and I are your biggest fans and love you dearly. We had such an amazing time at your show together and it was always one of my favorite memories, we were longtime best friends and your show was when we really started falling in love with each other. Thank you for being my and so many others something comforting.

But after watching his live performance of these new songs and hearing the lyrics and how he performs them live, inspired me go back to college and finish my audio production degree. I lost passion for music til seeing him perform this artistry live. This is magic if your in the right frequency and can give it a real listen, a true artist can inspire others to do what they thought they couldn't.

@@mosesfollowerofchrist5959 Ok, Let's do this. As far as Pop electronic (no disrespect), I will take the argument to heart. He has great hooks, addictive earworms, and a unique composition that fits the pop formula perfectly. I would go with Daft Punk and Massive Attack over Porter Robinson in that group. As for pop electronic (again, no disrespect, I love pop) you can make a case. Yet as for sucka-free, knee buckling, gravity enriched artistry. Banco De Gaia (Toby Marks) Aphex Twin Squarpusher Plastikman Rivers Console Mr. Projectile Orbital FSOL Lusine Chritian Loeffler Aparat Just to name a few, come before Porter. Unless Porter Robinson is all the way up his own ass, I think he would agree with me. Now instead of dismissing this opinion, I encourage you to look up some of these artists aforementioned if you haven't already. They have produced timeless pieces of work. Mind you, I like Porter Robinson stuff, I do, but let him create his body of work before we throw the guy in the GOAT status. Cheers!
@mosesfollowerofchrist59592 жыл бұрын
@@rhythmvato1 porter definitely got big inspiration from daft punk and they are timeless I haven't heard of near most of the people you mentioned and won't be bold enough to say they don't amount to porter but as far as electronic music I think he's up there. I will consider your opinion and will look into these artists but quite honestly as far as what I have listened to electronic or not I think porter is the best artists I've listened to in my opinion. But I do think he will continue to grow and this is a step towards his future.

I feel like there is such a bittersweet vibe whenever he mixes in tracks from worlds, like the album's success indirectly caused him the next 7 years of pain and self-doubt, but it's really cool to see him mix it in like he has finally come to accept it is a part of him and to not fear it in a sense
@dakaiw3 жыл бұрын
What impact did worlds have on porter and why?
@sharrpshooter13 жыл бұрын
@@dakaiw You can find alot of his description for the album and songs all around, but to summarize basically, after worlds blew the legit fuck up making him pretty famous and incredibly famous in the edm scene, he basically felt like he couldn't ever top worlds. Thats the reason he spent so long on this album, because he hated everything he wrote and would try again, evenchally he got to a really dark place where he locked himself way from everyone because he didn't think he was trying hard enough or that in general he was even good enough. Worlds made him one of the most recognize names in edm and the weight of that crushed him for a really long time because well, how do you live up to that?

I doubt you will see this. But by the off chance you do not want you to know you’re changing lives for the better last year was probably the hardest year of my life. I was at a job that basically made me feel worthless as a human being, and made my depression so bad that I thought the only way out was offing myself. There were very few things making me feel like that I could keep going on doing what I was doing and still had value in life I’m not exaggerating I would wake up every morning and play look at the sky. it gave me the strength to get out of bed every morning and feel like I could still do some thing and I still had value your music gives people the ability to feel happiness, happiness and love. You are healing people whether you know it or not please never stop sharing your gift with the world people need you.

Dang, this situation sounds similar to mine last year. Except I was at a job where I was put as the boss. None of my own bosses treated me right, I was always by myself working everything for long periods of time, and my employees weren't much help either. I had the biggest mental breakdown of my life. The only thing I could do was turn on Porter's music and use it to help me cope with the hardships I faced. That was, until I quit and found a better job. And it feels so much better listening to Porter with a positive attitude :)
@GreenPlague Жыл бұрын
i’m sorry that you had to go through that. Waking up at 4 o’clock in the morning because you want to throw up at the thought of going to work isn’t anything someone should have to go through I did end up finding a new job as well. it’s not exactly what I was looking for, but the pay is enough and the people are genuinely kind, and for the time being that seems like enough for me. Since then I was also able to slowly ease off of my anxiety and depression medication. I’m now at a point wherever I don’t need it anymore without any repercussions. I’m thankful that it was there when I needed it but I’m also happy to be myself again, Onwards and upwards!

Whenever I see electronic music discussed, I hope it's just me, but I NEVER see the name "Porter Robinson" mentioned too much, or some times at all. He's probably the best or one of the bests ever at the present time, and he deserves so much more fame than he already has. His music is incredible. He actually KNOWS music, he doesn't just jam together different pieces and/or tracks, he knows what he's doing, he can see the greater, full picture, and that comes with his ability to play the piano, to know how to sing to a certain extent, and the fact that he STUDIED music, thing that almost doesn't happen anymore in electronic music now-a-days (and not just this genre, but in genres like trap or rap, too). His taste is so refined, I love it, and I love him.

Knowing about Porter's struggle with making this album after the success of his 'Worlds' album really makes the moment between Unfold and Divinity (@59:15 onwards) really spectacular. Looking at Unfold's lyrics: "And i watched the water unfold It’s a feeling I want you to know ’Cus I’m not the same as I was As i shoulder the weight of the world" It really seems like a conversation between Porter and his fans. This looks to me as if he's saying look at what I've made now, despite the 'weight' that the 'World[s]' [album] had on him. Maybe it's just me but it really made that moment hit harder than it already did.

It’s a very rare occurrence when a bunch of humans from across the world can come together for a purpose and all feel the same exact way. Thank you, PR. And even though I’m just some random KZbin account to you all, I just wanna say that I appreciate each and every one of you.

all the lines spoken by the narrator i could gather from both the official release and live version of 'Mirror': "They come to feel like things we are saying to ourselves." "Now these voices have become our own." "Sometimes, the inner voice is encouraging, calling for you to run those final few yards; you're nearly there, keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going, it will all be okay in the end." "The best sort of inner voice," she began, "speaks to us in a gentle, kind, unhurried way." "It should feel as if a sympathetic arm were being put around our shoulder," "by someone who had lived a long time, and seen a great many sad things."

The lines were sampled from "Overcoming Bad Inner Voices" by The School of Life. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nXjYi4mriqeYn7M :)
