Strangest thing happened to me on the way to work involving this song. Was walking to work, about 15 minutes it takes and this song came on as I was listening to the second half of Dummy. Closing in on work, placed around the town centre, with Glory Box playing, the lyric "I'm tired of playing with this bow and arrow" ringing through my ear and I see two lads who I know well. I take my earphones out to speak to them and, nearby, a busker is playing his own music with a familiar sounding bass-line. I look around and I hear the lyric "I'm so tired, tired of playing with this bow and arrow". And I do the sharpest double take known to man, I couldn't believe my ears. What an insane coincidence. Shows how universal this song is though, brilliant.

man, the lyrics... I swear I was flirting with this maneater who admitted that who she was to me. I came as a friend but we clicked mad hard. The sexual tension was unbearable between. She said she wanted to leave her old life of making games out of men and be a good girl for good. I liked her and she liked me and we both knew it, though unsaid. But in the end she flaked out on me. I guess she's still not ready, but damn she was a piece of work

I moved to France in 1994, along with a backpack and 2 suitcases. My best friend sent me a cassette of Dummy and oh man, it was a game changer for me in my loneliness (French people speak French lol), it made me the best thing since sliced bread having this cassette tape Thank you Christine darls for sending that tape! Eternally grateful ! Also grateful to Portishead , always loved you guys. If you ever want to play in France, come down South (as no-one ever does grrrr). Seriously come here.

This song reminds me of being stoned, seeing the whole world as one big dream but in a good way. We were about to play live in Melbourne Aus as a support act and I was so stoned I thought my instrument was shrinking. But it was all good. Life was a never ending party. I didn't grow up in a normal way. Now the world is about to change forever, humanity is about to be shocked into a new reality. I don't think I will ever be able to shrink back to my former self. Problem is, I was happier then. Just know we all have better times coming once the truth comes out.

Omg younger generation discovering good music and appreciating it WHAT A CRIME! Not every song on tiktok gets “ruined” by some dumb challenge or dance some just get the appropriation and exposure they deserve or a second time on the spotlight.

The 90s was the last true good era for music. Everything since the digital age has just not matched. Music of that time was timeless. Music of this generation will be forgotten in 10 years.

Casi 30 años de este temazo y aún no pierde su esencia vanguardista. Portishead, adelantados a su época, elegantes e hipnóticos en sus melodías,vanguardistas en su propuesta como pocos.
