The Anita Lester cover is the best version of that song, arguably better than the original. I dont use that description lightly when it comes to Radiohead covers.

jesus, this was beautiful. the national anthem was sick with the intense strings in the background and the trumpet was well played. how to disappear completely is my favorite Radiohead song and has a special place in my heart, and this cover gave me chills. the vocals were dark and moody and the entire atmosphere you all created was brilliant. I loved how much it kept my attention. this is the best radiohead cover I've seen, well done!

Thom said How to Disappear is about the existential dread he felt after becoming as famous as he did from Radiohead. After their first album he intentionally attempted to make an album completely opposite of what it was, that album was OK Computer. That album became more popular than even most Beatles records at their peak. Thom hated being in the spotlight as much as he was and felt that people saw him for something that’s not really him, all he wanted to do was disappear.
@jaytravtulsa13 ай бұрын
@@AustinJones330Yes, and Michael Stipe of REM had advised him to just “disappear completely for a little while” and become the rock star the people wanted while he was on stage. Thom tried it, and couldn’t quite get the hang of it. 😉

I adore almost everything about this. But I'm a firm believer in staying on pitch if you're going to go for drawn out runs. She was flat the entire song :/ More attention should have been put on the musicians. I would really recommend redoing this with either a different vocalist or after shes had more training.
@Acoustic-Rabbit-Hole3 жыл бұрын
I kinda agree. Allow me to paste my own reaction i posted: "Would have been better if she had just sung it straight instead of adding fancy little frilly trillys. You never fight fire with fire; and it this case, you don't crush a soul with Soul."
@Acoustic-Rabbit-Hole3 жыл бұрын
Her singing was great, BUT it just would have been better if she had sung it straight. Unfortunately, she instead she adds fancy little frilly trillys. You don't fight fire with fire; and it this case, you don't crush a soul with Soul. After all of the work they did to orchestrate this complex piece unplugged, they actually defeated the purpose of the song itself. The whole point was for her voice to be One with the crying strings.

The tempo started off perfect then it got too fast once the drummer entered. Drummer rushed the rhythm and the tempo got ruined the rest of the recording. The bassist should have stopped the take and made the try again.

So wonderful but not a big fan of the trumpet for the vocal part choice on the national anthem....doesn't go so well it's good for background in this composition but not for the front... a violin or a person's voice would have been better
