This can be the new I-5 rivalry between Seattle and Portland in the MLB

This is by far and away the best location they've proposed so far. Right in the heart of everything, plenty of transportation connections, and iconic views - this really has it all.

So, the new A’s ballpark in Las Vegas isn’t slated to open until 2028. If the PBG can get their stadium built sooner, I’d like to see them buy the A’s from Fisher in exchange for an expansion franchise granted by MLB (one of two). The A’s colors are Portland City colors, there are a considerable number of Bay Area transplants here, and a traditional divisional rivalry would be maintained with the Seattle Mariners. Portland A’s sounds good.

I’d be a fan of the Portland A’s for sure! Excited to see what the expansion will bring

The fact that it's near a MAX station is great. It gives people a much better way to get to the games.

The stadium fits perfect on the north section and they plan to integrate the Ross Island bridge into the stadium itself. They’re also adding restaurants, apartments and parking structures to the south end. Those partnered with the foot bridge leading to the new OMSI District and public transit stationed right next to it makes this is the perfect location. Very exciting stuff

Portland is larger than several current MLB markets, and is one of the largest to have only one team in the "big three" of baseball, basketball, and football. There are over 3 million people living within an hours drive of this site, and I think it would be great for Portland, SW Washington, Oregon, and really the entire PNW. Build it and they will come.

As a Mariners fan living just outside Seattle, I would love for Portland to get a MLB expansion team, especially if they were in the AL West! Provides a local rivalry and maybe they would actually be a competent well-run team so we could finally bring a World Series to the PNW! Sadly, I don't see it happening within the next 20 years. I don't think Portland is at the top of the list for potential expansion team locations.

I agree, would be awesome to have the I-5 rivalry! I hope MLB expands in the next 5 years.

Nice video Connor. Found this in my feed. As a former Oakland A's fan, I would LOVE to see this happen.

Appreciate it! Sorry to see what’s happened with the A’s.. surely a lot of movement happening in the next 5-10 years in MLB

Why do I get the feeling that even if Portland gets a team in 10 or 15 years, they would _still_ win a World Series before the cursed Mariners do?!
@TheCouchGM2 ай бұрын
I’d take it. I can’t stand the Mariners mediocrity
@darkrider9622 ай бұрын
@TheCouchGM And if there was a Portland team that was good, I would honestly probably ditch the Mariners and become a fan of that other team. It's just so exhausting being a Mariners fan for decades on end with virtually 0 post-season success! But there's no other MLB team in the PNW, so that's a big reason why I'm still a M's fan!

The Marlins won two world series, same as the Atlanta Braves.

I’d argue that lack of a regional rival enables mediocrity in Marinerland.

Exciting stuff. I still think its unlikely Portland gets a team in the next ~8 years, but damn do they deserve it.

Portland has some work to do. But, aside from the glaring issues, it is a beautiful city.

They could put a nice jewel box-style stadium in that location and a whole restaurant district just south of the Ross Island bridge.

Oh and one last thought from me: If there were to be a Portland expansion team, that would provide the perfect opportunity to put them in the AL West and move the Trashtros back to the NL Central where they belong! I can dream can't I LOL!

Would love if it happened, but we'll never pass public funding for it sadly I think that edges us out. Great video!
@Ares142 ай бұрын
Definitely interesting. If this came to fruition, I wonder how they would jumble the divisions. AL or NL, wonder what teams would move where.

• If it has very large light rail terminals with several trains leading to several large parking structures strategically placed around the city and/or county to alleviate traffic around the stadium 🏟; this baseball ⚾️ project may just work. • Build a 32,000 seat stadium 🏟; maximum. • I would only build a parking structure for team employees and family members and all the stadium workers as they ARE ESSENTIAL!!! • The fans can train, bus, and/or walk in. • And, of course outside restaurant venues and a sports museum. • And zero homelessness!!!

What's the time frame here for the next step moving forward for this to happen? Exciting!

It’s still a long shot, MLB will likely announce expansion within the next 2-3 years I’d imagine. There are a few other cities pushing hard to get a team

Can the lot even hold a baseball stadium?!?!?!? Where are the parking spots going to be?!?!?
@rolling_typhoon2 ай бұрын
There would likely be 0 dedicated parking, but this lot is right next to a bicycle, passenger bridge and transit access is 1 block away. Providence park where the MLS plays in Portland similarly has 0 parking.

I didn't think so either looking at both angles. Only if 1 of the bridges is shifted, and I don't know if that is feasible. I wonder what their plan looks like.

MLB expanding makes no sense. White Sox 39-120, Angels 63-96, A’s 69-90, Marlins 59-100, Nationals 69-100, Rockies 61-98. Seems like the MLB needs more a move to becoming smaller like 20 teams
