Portland Fire and Rescue Station 1 Full Company Response

I376 and C2 responding on the first alarm to a Commercial fire on N Interstate Ave (Engine 24's FMA). Upon arrival a second alarm was dispatched which is when E1, T1, and S1 responded. Full resource package was: C1, C2, C4, C103, C405, E1, E2, E3, E13, E14, E17, E21, E24, E26, T1, T2, T3, T4, T8, T10, T13, S1, Rescue 24, Air Unit 10, Rehab 10, I376, PIO351.

PF&R definitely isn't afraid to send big resource packages. It's all about having safe, rehabbed, and focused fire fighters at greater alarm incidents.

Just to note that a "full company response/full house response" = EVERY unit quartered in that station GOES; I recently went to station 1 in Portland and I saw that they also have a trench rescue unit and a urban search and rescue unit; now those 2 units did not go out on the call in this cost, so the point really is, is that it's NOT a "full house/company response" because not ALL the units quartered in the station were sent to the incident

StueyExMCFD The skis are docked in the river 24/7 and the Rhino at station 1 is never on a trailer so these units would require specific staffing for response

For an American station quite large, but one question: as it's a full house response, what about all the apparatus left behind at the station?

EnjoyFirefighting - International Emergency Response Videos This is a commonly asked question understandably. My logic is that every STAFFED rig went. Yes they could’ve split one of the suppression rigs’ crew and taken the USAR tractor trailer but for a commercial fire that would hardly ever be the case. So technically that and trench rescue truck, and the side by side could’ve also been staffed but that would be an extremely rare case if not impossible. Thanks!

@@perrytaylor10 Thanks for the information: I guess it differs a lot when looking at different departments or different countries. Thus e.g. in my home town each fire-fighter is assigned to two, three or even four different apparatus at the same time; Filming a full house response with all "staffed" apparatus isn't even possible. They easily roll out with 7 apparatus but then there's usually no-one left at the station to staff some more apparatus

Here in Maine, all PD and fire units that are run by officers are unmarked. Winslow Fire has a blacked out Yukon with tinted windows, black rims, black brush guard.

Left tall door is a UTV unit used mostly for medical coverage of big events on the waterfront. Then the door to the right of that one has a collapse rescue truck. The unit next to Truck 1 is a USAR tractor trailer with tons of gear and extra cribbing etc.

That was Chief 103 which I believe is a district or division chief.

Yes, car 103 is the Deputy Chief. That´s the red SUV in the southern most bay that was first out of the station. But what is the gray SUV? I haven´t seen that before. Is it perhaps the Chief of the Department´s vehicle? The description states that it´s Chief 2, but C2 is quartered at Station 24, isn´t it? Thanks -- great video!

Truck 10 was there to bring the rehab and air unit, Truck 2 has probies and adds themselves to calls so the probies can get experience. I’m guessing two or 3 others added themselves. Usually the BCs will try to even out the response and clear a few once they get there

Big Time77 every staffed unit went. There are 3 companies there of 4 people each. The USAR rig and trench rescue rig only go on confined space or other difficult rescues and are not needed for fires. There is also a UTV which they use for events or to respond to incidents in parks or to the PWCs docked in the river behind the filming location.
