At the low point of the wind-down, it sounds like a 3t22. Good video!

When it's winding down, this siren sounds very much like a Federal Signal 3T22. It's good to see some of these old sirens still being used.

Remember hearing The Retained Fire Station in Spalding siren going off to alert the crews, siren was on top of Gas works near my Girl friends(now my wife) home. All retained stations used these to call them out to an incident in the pre pocket alerter days,

@harrygoozee Yes I was a child and no I wasn't evacuated from London. My mother God Rest her couldn't bring herself to allow myself or my sisters to leave London. We lived in East Ham back then, and that was one of the areas bombed heavily on 7th September 1940 at the start of the blitz, along with most of the East End and the Docks.

@Taojac you have more tornadoes down in the south west country than we seem to up in Norfolk! 14 years since the twister film came out and I still haven't seen a tornado touch-down in Norfolk... Closest thing I can remember hearing of was a waterspout in Felixtowe...
@Taojac14 жыл бұрын
@mtf62 no they were ironmongers and founders of metal casings and such and where called up to manufacture sirens during the start of the war. i typed in castle castings into google but i don't think it is the same company, if you would like to purchase a world war two like siren there was another company called klaxon and they are still operating and manufacturing sirens.
@Taojac15 жыл бұрын
yeah they did two tests on the same day. this is test two because i went to another siren just down the road and then when it started going off it didnt even get fast enough to make a noise then it just stopped so my previous video was ruined grrr
@hmsirensandfirealarms3 жыл бұрын
They also used to have a Klaxon GP12

@FireAlarmMan458 I think this siren is a 10/12 port-- the same port ratio as the 2t-3t22

@mtf62 i havent a clue do you know any way i could check for you. there is a small green box on the ground near the siren mounting pole and that is where the button is pressed to activate it im not sure if that is a starting box. tell me where i might find this info on the siren and i will comment back.

fair point that would be bad since i use this same camera for all my recordings and i wouldn't want to get too close anyway because of my ears too
@Taojac14 жыл бұрын
@djoska87 only problem is that 20-25 meters away would have been in the middle of the road or someones living room. sorry this is the best you can get of this siren.

Castle Castings sirens were not used during the second world war! They were used during the cold war to warn of imminent soviet nuclear attack. Carter Gents (of Leicester) were the sirens which were used exclusively in England during the 2nd World War - I should know I was born before the war and lived through the blitz.
@johnkordish3546 Жыл бұрын
They where used in the Cold War era and world war 2 era

hey guys and gals just to let you know i know some people commented on how clear my vid is. i would like to let you know that sometime next year i am going to record the same siren only EVEN CLOSER because its in a residential area i can get a tiny six feet away from the siren next year. so my next vid should be wicked close.

@iwnproductions If I didn't know better, I'd say the 2T and 3T22'S are based on this, well the Kaxon version at least,

@Siren1000T1 It would indeed... And distorted recordings do NOT sound good... To be honest, about another 25-50 metres AWAY would have been perfect, and you got the angle spot-on (you pick up the equal sound of both rotors)

I would be careful about that cause if you put the camera too close to the siren, the mic will get distorted badly with all that noise being put into the mic and to be honest with you, that would kind of ruin the recording.
