Portland TriMet & Portland Streetcar: Downtown Portland Bus, Light Rail & Streetcar Action Part II

All of these videos were taken during my 2nd visit to the City of Portland, Oregon. Aside from the usual train and light rail action, you'll see some footage of the Portland Streetcar along with a TMC RTS-06 on the Pioneer Express for the Lewis & Clark College. These Streetcars are the best sounding ones I have ever heard!!

The streetcars are comprised of cars manufacturered by United Streetcar. The Portland MAX Light Rail fleet seen here is comprised of Siemens Type-2, Type-3, Type-4 & Type-5 cars.

If only they had a subway/metro system, Portland's transport system would be absolute gold, an example for the rest of the US to follow.

Let’s compare it to Seattle, a larger PNW city. Portland has a better streetcar and light rail system than Seattle. Although Seattle has Portland beat on commuter rail and buses. Neither one has a subway! It sucks.

Although Seattle’s light rail and streetcar have been insanely expensive. They should have gone for right of ways on city streets and old freight right of ways and no-frills stations/stops.

It's more risky on the front of the bus. Bikes are carried on the rears of cars regularly. Most buses carry them in the front but if it should come off while the buses is moving 40 mph the bus could hit it and lose control. The only thing I see wrong with the bike on the back of the bus is the owner wouldn't know it fell off until he got to his stop.

Why does Portland trimet and Richmond va Grtc order these ugly gilligs with brt fronts and low floor rear. Just go with one or the other that's really ugly.
